@Merlyn197002@Nigel_Farage@RachelHale9920 Much as I think he will do better than a Tory or Labour leader I also don’t think speaking like a true leader implicitly means having the capability to solve problems. These 2 have been conflated for such a long time it’s beginning to undermine democracy. Substance is the key.
@DanNeidle If we always look at things from the cost lens, then we’ll probably never own a car. But if you consider the car takes you to places to do business so you can make far more money then it suddenly makes sense. We need good tax analysis but I think we oversimplify its effects.
@DanNeidle I think any tax take it cut has both quantitative and qualitative effects but often we only focus on the quantitative. Those qualitative effects are often even more profound and cannot be easily measured. Also growth won’t come from a single tax cut.
@DanNeidle It will come from a combination of different policies which together fulfils the goal of a healthy economy. I won’t benefit from this tax cut directly, but that extra money might be spent on something I sell. So I believe tax is more complicated than the sums we get.
Permanent hire or contractor? Firms are starting to re-evaluate.
15% employer NI. Day-one sick pay. Day-one parental leave. Unfair dismissal exposure from six months.
The commercial case for the contractor model has not been this strong in years. Finance teams have noticed. The question is whether enough clients have.

@AndyRejoinEU@trussliz Mate get over it, we were all caught up in it. No single person is responsible it, the problems don’t go away with one person leaving the government.
@DibbsTux@jackmrankin You are assuming the review will lead to a change in the positive direction. It can get worse judging from the last time this party reviewed it. In fact the leader of the last review process has been promoted to VC, so I expect a double down.
@KemiBadenoch I can only presume Mel Stride will be involved in the #IR35 review, in which case it can possibly get worse. At this rate I’ll take no review over a review from my former favourite party.
@piersmorgan Why invent a word like “woke” to label and legitimise something you hate and moan about it. If everyone stopped using it then maybe what it represents becomes irrelevant. There’s more than enough vocabulary to describe more important things in the world. Focus on it.
@hoosiermd3@Gonegirl2002@TRobinsonNewEra True, they didn’t beg alright. It’s was done with guns to the head. And did anyone ask for what you call “civilisation”? I think not.
@makeMePM2029 @ideiasradicais@DanielJHannan You do realise a wealth tax is for wealthy individuals right? They don’t apply to Corporations and MacDonalds is a corporate. A wealth tax won’t go after McDonald’s/Starbucks or Amazon.
