RUSSIA EXPECTS WAR WITH EUROPE — JOHNSON SAYS THE DIPLOMATIC DOOR IS SHUT

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson is speaking from Moscow after weeks in the city and a dinner with Sergey Lavrov. He says life there still looks normal. What he brought back about Europe is not. In his telling, Russia has stopped waiting for a deal the West can actually deliver — and has started treating a wider war with Europe as a future fact, not a fantasy.

THE DEAL MOSCOW WILL STILL PUT ON THE TABLE
➡️ Johnson says Russia remains “open to negotiation,” but only on the outline Vladimir Putin gave the foreign ministry in June 2024.
➡️ Recognize Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Crimea as Russian territory.
➡️ NATO out of Ukraine. Western weapons and intelligence cut off at once. Then elections — not “this group of Nazis running around.”
➡️ Lavrov’s public line, repeated at that table: Trump is “agreement incapable.” Kushner and Witkoff are not treated as serious.

WHY HE SAYS EUROPE IS NOW ON THE TRACK
➡️ Johnson agrees with Mearsheimer: there is no diplomatic solution Russia can live with right now. It will be decided militarily.
➡️ That, he says, means the military defeat of Ukraine — “and by extension the military defeat of Europe.”
➡️ After talking with Russian officers, including General Apti Alaudinov, his claim is blunt: the Russians “fully expect to be at war with Europe.”
➡️ Not a surprise attack. Not a preemptive strike. A matter-of-fact read of what Poland, Germany, France and Britain are saying and doing.
➡️ They have “resigned” to that as a future reality.

THE PEOPLE VERSUS THE PALACES
➡️ That, Johnson says, should scare the hell out of Europeans — because the leadership is so far from the public.
➡️ The average Pole and the average German do not want a war with Russia.
➡️ They would rather have Russian oil and gas coming in.
➡️ Instead their societies are “getting savaged, absolutely savaged” by shortages of diesel, aviation fuel and gasoline.
➡️ Peace talk gets stamped as a Putin project. Confrontation stays the official path. Russia’s answer, via Sergey Karaganov, is that its future now lies in the east, not the west.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Johnson’s Europe brief from Moscow is not a peace process. It is a verdict: the talking points are frozen, the 2022 off-ramps are dead, and Moscow is planning as if Europe’s own words will drag it into the fight — while European households pay in diesel. Attribute the forecast to him. Treat a NATO–Russia war as his warning, not a fact already printed.
