CCA is the national voice of Canada’s 60,000 beef farms and feedlots - founded by producers and led by a producer-elected board.
We are cattle country.
Thank you Minister Sidhu for taking the time to meet with us. We look forward to continuing to work closely with you and your team, and engage on trade, opening new markets, and ensuring Canadian beef producers can continue to grow here at home. We remain fully committed to ongoing engagement about Mercosur as trade negotiations continue.
We are proud to be included in the mission to Japan and excited about the opportunity to participate as Team Canada.
Today, I met with the Canadian Cattle Association to discuss opening new markets, keeping Canadian beef competitive and standing up for our farmers and ranchers.
Roughly half of the beef produced in Canada is exported, adding about $1,400 in value per animal for producers. With access to China recently restored for 20 Canadian meat establishments, we’re creating new opportunities for high-quality Canadian beef.
Next week, the Canadian Cattle Association will join me in Japan as part of our largest ever Team Canada trade mission to the Indo-Pacific region. I look forward to having representatives of Canada’s beef industry with me as we work to open new markets and create more opportunities for Canadian producers.

Thank you Senator for standing up for Canadian beef producers. We know that MPs are hearing our concerns, but as long as negotiations continue for a possible trade agreement with Mercosur, we need to continue to speak up and share our concerns.
Tell your friends and neighbours and share https://t.co/RnPAyT7tvj so others can add their voices and support Canadian beef producers.
Canadian beef is not a negotiating chip! I made a statement in the @SenateCA today to recognize the importance of protecting the Canadian beef sector from the ongoing trade negotiations with Mercosur. There must be thorough consideration of the effects that a Mercosur trade deal will have on ALL Canadian sectors. Watch my statement here: https://t.co/uA5P5oou6O @CanCattle@NACattleFeeders
