1) A scary war with Iran got put on pause, so oil got cheaper

2) A couple big companies (Palantir, Caterpillar) reported way better earnings than expected

3) Tech/AI stocks, which had been struggling in July, came roaring back. When good news piles up like that, everyone wants to buy at once
