@ONeducation is pushing the date of effect of the Math Proficiency Test from Aug. 31 to Dec. 31. This will assist the province's administration of the test.
A test they sat on for over a year.
This will also create hiring instability for boards and schools. #onted@ONT_Dad
Ontario education ministry faces multibillion shortfall in funding, report says https://t.co/EIC2LtgL9B
Start by cancelling the Math Proficiency Test. Even the @EQAO research on teacher testing shows it doesn't impact student success. Millions of dollars wasted. @OTCC19#onted
Why test elementary teachers on high school math when we are only certified to teack k-6? Most of won't teach math past grade 6 if we do and we already know the basics. How is this #mpt fair? Teachers are being set up to fail. Cancel the nonsensical MPT @Sflecce@ONeducation
This new math proficiency test is robbing us of French Teachers, despite no evidence the test increases student achievement! This is the opposite of what we need. https://t.co/ugnR2UcZYh #topoli#Onted#onpoli
The legal challenge is still active and we are patiently waiting.
Our fundraising is still active too!

MPT stories:
“While I achieved the “provincial standard” on the MPT with a 72%, I failed because the sections are split and you have to achieve a 70% in each section. Achieving 68% in the math section and 80% in the pedagogy is not enough for the gov to allow me to be a teacher”
@EthanNodwell94 @eqao@OTCC19 Thank you for sharing some information about this!! This test is stressful enough that TCs should not have to worry about equity and honesty matters regarding the organization #CancelTheMPT
Asking teachers to do ‘ONE MORE THING’ and not removing anything else from their plate doesn’t help anyone.
•It doesn’t help Teachers!
•It doesn’t help Test Scores! 🙄
•And it certainly doesn’t help STUDENTS!
Primary/Junior teachers shouldn’t have to write the MPT. French/Drama/Art teachers shouldn’t have to write the MPT. Math teachers shouldn’t have to write the MPT to prove they know their teachable. The #MathProficiencyTest does not prove that teachers can teach! #CancelTheMPT
@ONeducation @erteacher14 @eqao@Sflecce@OTCC19 Hi there,
Mathematics is an essential skill, but teachers should not be expected to pass a test that asks them to pass with 70% with only months to prep or lose their license. Math is a skill we use everyday, yes, but it is does not determine a teacher’s ability to do their job.
Wonderfully put - make the test equitable!! Teachers in different fields should not be pressed to learn material that does not impact their instruction! #CancelTheMPT
@erteacher14 @eqao@ONeducation@Sflecce@OTCC19 Also @ONeducation, Learning for All states that fairness is not sameness. Yet here we are, writing the same MPT that somehow makes us amazing math teachers.
@CancelTheMPT I've been an educator for 21 years and my colleagues do not have anything memorized. See we have something called Google and they Google the documents. Maybe someone should tell hot heads @Sflecce and @fordnation about the technological tool named Google!
Please help new teachers.
Many donations are us chipping in, while we currently are being threatened to have our careers destroyed before they can begin.
Thank you deeply for every donation-
Let’s #CancelTheMPT together!🍎🍏

The #MathProficiencyTest expects teachers to memorize documents that they will have CONSTANT access to in their classrooms, how does this make sense? This test is designed to make teachers fail and lose their license when Ontario needs educators #CancelTheMPT#onted
