Extending the MPT deadline is a first step. Even though this type of teacher testing has not been proven effective, an extension was necessary to allow 2020/2021 graduates to keep their jobs (for now). #CancelTheMPT
The Ministry of Education has extended the current deadline to fulfill the MPT requirement from August 31, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

#TheMPT does not support that - it encourages new teachers to be fearful of math, and the idea of cramming a subject as ‘learning’

Without continued testing this extension is meaningless and only serves to ignore the legal fight against this bigoted test.

@maritstiles This was rolled out in the worst way possible. So unorganized, caused so much unnecessary stress for new teachers and student teachers. This is what happens when the minister of education has never spent a day in the public system either as a student or a teacher. #cancelthempt
@BrendanHopkin16 @maritstiles Yes! The secret extension of the deadline that happened very recently is important.
Letting new teachers teach without this requirement shows that it is unneeded- now it’s extended by another semester of school, proving that even more so.

Why #CancelTheMPT ?
There are so many reasons - but the biggest one is that it violates our Charter. We have to say #NoMPT because it will hurt the diversity of teachers.
@Sflecce, @fordnation, & @ONeducation breach our Charter with #TheMPT / O.Reg 271/19.

#CancelTheMPT is not because we can’t pass, but because we shouldn’t have too, and some can’t.
This test violates our Charter so we have to say #NoMPT because we value diversity in our field + it’s a waste of resources.
