We just finished the hearing for the case of GRJ versus Greece. This was a case filed by a, at the time, 15 year old Afghan minor refugee who was abducted from the refugee camp on Samos that he tried to seek asylum in and was subject to a summary expulsion by the Greek authorities, who took the minor away from the camp, brought him out to sea on a Coast Guard vessel, and expelled him by abandoning him on an inflatable raft with only one other minor.
The treatment that GRJ was subject to as part of a systematic practice of the Greek Coast Guard, referred to as drift back. And this was the first time that this particular practice was examined by the European Court of Human Rights.
