NEW: The same media that brought you "WMDs in Iraq" and "Chemical Attacks in Syria" is now demanding praise for "Saving Democracy" by complaining about Trump's Tweets and trying to make Russiagate happen, while ignoring decades of horrific war crimes...
The legacy of Prophet Muhammad, who called for the protection of churches by any means necessary, is seen in this inspiring story from Mosul, Iraq.
Respecting each other is crucial, but it is not enough.
We must assist, defend & honor each other. Always.https://t.co/zfZQIATzvM
Israeli authorities used the cover of U.S. Election Day to demolish many Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank.
The demolition leaves 74 people, 41 of them minors, homeless.
This great injustice is a blatant violation of the 4th Geneva Convention.
Eight years ago I proposed marriage to @GayatriGalloway on the bench on the left @HiLeiden I had met her not two hours earlier when she was in the audience for a talk I gave. Now by the grace of God she’s a mother-of-three. A true love story.
19 YEARS ago today, the US invaded Afghanistan—launching a war that would go on to become the longest in US History, and is still ongoing today, costing American taxpayers more than $1 TRILLION.
The Afghanistan War has become the very definition of an “Endless War.”
Did you know that Harvard University’s law school building recognizes the Qur’an as one of the most important books for justice in the history of humankind?
“... stand firmly for justice... even as against yourselves, or your parents.”
These are inspiring & challenging words.
Eleven Aid flights have arrived in #Beirut from Russia (5) Iraq (3) and Iran (3). Memo to western countries: be generous. It repays much more than sending sanctions and war... #BeirutBlast#PrayForLebanon#LebanonExplosion
#afc got £3.6m in prize money for their FA Cup win but had to pay back £11.5m to players (5% of original 12.5% cut, wage bill c.£230m). Not the players’ fault, EL qualification was vital. But sacking 55 people while the players get some money back reflects dreadfully on Kroenke.
Sergey #Lavrov: By imposing #sanctions on Russia, Western countries have shown themselves unreliable partners. We are not asking for sanctions to be lifted. We are simply improving our resilience and self-reliance.
The looting of Africa continues. This report of mine with @GlobalJusticeUK 3 years ago analysed for the 1st time all inflows and outflows to the continent. It found a net annual resource drain of $41bn out of Africa in 2015. Africa is aiding us. https://t.co/aLJcL1lLyi
I am not a Muslim myself, but I have to say that I am deeply inspired by the anti-racism of Prophet Muhammad, because he showed that a person is distinguished over another not by race or ethnicity, but, rather, by the quality of one’s character & conduct. https://t.co/HLQDYBMkCc
Writing during his visit to Mecca in 1964, Malcolm X said:
“America needs to understand Islam, because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem.”
Why did he say that?
Consider the Farewell Sermon of Prophet Muhammad. *Racial equality* is featured.
Imagine you're an American who works with his hands, & you've lost your job because of the lockdowns. You turn on the TV & hear medical experts, academics, technocrats & journalists explain we must keep the economy closed. All these people making that case have jobs.
My take:
Today is the 72nd anniversary of the ongoing Palestinian “Nakba.”
I am inspired by Palestinian resilience in the face of ethnic cleansing, settler-colonialism, apartheid, occupation, & annexation.
These are crimes against humanity.
World leaders should recognize them as such.
