Which is why I support raises for all teachers and classified school staff. But beyond the finances, I want elected officials to give our educators the recognition & respect they deserve, and for us to champion their work & their devotion to Arkansas’s kids. #arpx#arleg 2/2
NBC News just added another 9.4 million people on Twitter to the growing number of news subscribers who have scratched Arkansas from their list of vacation destinations. At this rate, we might as well close the Department of Tourism until 2026.

#arleg has adjourned. Typically, that's a good thing. This week, it's not.
Legislators voted to adjourn without considering a proposal to raise teacher and educator pay now, for this school year. This, in spite of a record $1.6 billion surplus that's currently in the bank. (1/7)
Our state legislature needs to listen to the governor and use some of the billion dollar surplus to raise teacher pay. Speakers at yesterday’s rally were bipartisan because paying teachers a competitive salary that reflects their role in AR kids’ future is not a partisan issue.
We have $1.6 billion. Make no mistake, we have a choice on how to spend it. We could cut taxes for Arkansas’s top earners. Or we could pay teachers a little closer to what they deserve. Today, thousands of Arkansans showed up to answer that question with one voice: #payARteachers
1,835 new Arkansas Covid cases are but a fraction of the actual total with thousands of unreported home tests. Saying the positivity rate has dropped from a high 21.5% to a high 21.4% is like saying the state's ACT scores have risen from a low 18.2% in 2021 to a low 18.3% in 2022
1,735 Covid cases. Health experts believe real number is 3-4 times higher with unreported home tests. Friends say @TysonFoods@ArkansasOnline & @CARKW among others have reinstituted mask requirements. Girl Scouts of Arkansas "in person" office is closed for 2 weeks due to Covid
According to @nytimes through July 10, Arkansas leads the nation with a 57% increase in reported Covid cases over a 14 day period. North Dakota is 2nd at 34%. These don't include unreported home tests which make the increase significantly higher. @jamesgraham714@UAMS_COPH
With schools & colleges opening soon, perhaps @AsaHutchinson & @ADHPIO might hold a media briefing about Arkansas's 25.8% Covid test rate; 14% hospitalization increase in 14 days & emergence of new BA 2.75 in India & now in California; @MikeWickline@AngieMaxwell1@TomMarsLaw

AR has 1.6 Billion dollar surplus. @AsaHutchinson has a plan to raise teacher's pay. We have some of lowest pay of any state in the region. Petty politics should not prevent the legislature from doing it - now.
So we can’t afford the pay raise for teachers because we shouldn’t use one-time money for an ongoing expense, but we can use one-time money for the ongoing expense of tax cuts for the richest Arkansans. This is not right. #arpx#arleg
A Republican state senator plans to introduce a bill to keep Arkansans from crossing state lines to have an abortion.
Since this state senator won’t be back next session, he’ll have to try during the special session set to happen either later this month or sometime in August.
