@Anahera_idk Lol, the eastern rite Catholics, with their eastern theology that contradicts Rome, and their wealth of eastern saints who preached against the Latin church. Makes sense.
Your church also recognizes the Orthodox as valid, so what difference is it to you.
The Spirit of God and His Descent in Pentecost
Today is the feast of Pentecost where Orthodox Christians, 50 days after Pascha, celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit as tongues of fire onto the apostles.
The Son descended onto the earth in a human body, and ascended after fulfilling His mission, His ascension prepared the descent of the Holy Spirit (See John 16:7).
The descent of the Holy Spirit is revealed in the Old Testament as yesterdays vesper readings in the Orthodox Church demonstrates. In Numbers 11, God says that the Holy Spirit will descend onto His people, and Moses gathered 70 elders of Israel, and when the Spirit descended on them, they started to prophesy. The big difference between what happened in Numbers 11 and what happens in Pentecost, is that what occurred in Numbers was a prefigurement of what is to come, because the 70 elders did not prophesy again after that event, whereas the apostles spoke in tongues and continued to prophecy with the same Spirit of God that inspired the prophets in the Old Testament. This does not mean that we have more prophets after Christ since He fulfilled that office, rather that this power passed onto the apostles and their successors whom are the clergy of the Orthodox Church.
Likewise, God says in Joel 2:28 "And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions." In Ezekiel 36:27 He says "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them." This shows that the Pentecost and God's revelation to us in His Spirit were foretold in the Old Testament and accomplished in the New.
Christ accomplished His mission by His incarnation and crucifixion, and the Holy Spirit was sent by Him to continue Christ's mission through the apostolic ministry and the Christian believers in the Orthodox Church which is the "pillar and ground of truth" (1 Timothy 3:15).
The Holy Spirit did not merely give us the power to "speak in tongues" but imparted God's Divine energies to us (1 Corinthians 12:6 "And there are diversities of energies, but it is the same God which energizes all in all.) so that we may become "partakers of the Divine nature (2 Peter 1:4) and become like God and deified by grace to be conformed to what Christ is by nature.
Now that the Spirit has descended, the Paschal season has been completed. The life of God has been given to man so that man might become a partaker of it.
Fun fact: The man on the bottom is "Cosmos" who represents those of different nations who used to live in sin (darkness) but is now made a partaker of God's revelation and truth due to the speaking of tongues, which are not merely unrecognizable gibberish, but the speaking of different languages and the transcendence of the language barrier.
