We also now have the first iteration of our #PeatlandRestoration Card Game! It's ready for some serious playtesting but we're chuffed with it. Kerry and Carys have been working on it for months.
Welcome to #Friday and our #WeekInReview!
Phoebe and Kerry have been at Moss of Cree to check on the dipwells and assess sphagnum abundance using quadrats. Kerry has been gathering ideas for her performative drawing event for #WorldBogDay - all the way up in Shetland!
We have two events with @ShetlandAmenity:
EXPERIENCE PEATLANDS - all ages, hands on discovery of peat - 27 July, drop in 12:00 – 2:30pm at Shetland Museum and Archives
CREATIVE PEATLANDS - Observe and respond to the land with us - 28 July, drop in 2:30pm – 4:30pm, at Girlsta
Carys and Kerry have been putting their heads together for various projects, including our badly kept secret…
& Emily attended and spoke about #peatland restoration at the @SRUC Land Management conference & team #peat have been working on mapping and Peatland Code validations.
It’s time for the #WeekInReview!
Anna was up in Shetland last week with Sue from @ShetlandAmenity , delivering @PeatlandACTION restoration training for Shetland and Orkney based Contractors. The site was provided by @SSE at Viking Energy Wind Farm...
Contractors were able to practice wave damming and zipping, gully blocking and reprofiling and mineral surface bunds. Huge thanks to Shetland Peatland Restoration Services, @Goodladplant and Chadwick Plant Hire Ltd who provided machinery and valuable experience, and to @SSE.
Vicky attended the @PeatlandACTION project officer summer gathering in Banchory this week. Some great discussions were had around the meeting table and out on a site with particularly complex erosion features.
Hello #Friday! It’s #WeekInReview time.
Emily attended the @heathertrust Update Day which this year included a trip to Moor House, one of England’s largest National #Nature Reserves, to discuss #moorland research and monitoring.
Carys visited Kirkinner + Port William primaries to talk about #biodiversity and plants, and an eco-group to chat about #ClimateAction, thanks to @_dgclimatehub funding.
She also supported Kirkcudbright’s P6 day at Barhill Woods and tried out a co-storytelling session!
Happy #Friday – it’s #WeekInReview time.
A massive thank you to Troqueer Primary School who chose us as their charity to raise money for during their Eco Fayre. We went to visit them on Tuesday as part of our Biosphere Explorers project and thanked them in person!
We had a team meeting this week, and Kerry showed us her beautiful illustrations for an upcoming project – here are a couple to whet your appetite! #environmentalart#environmentalartist
