🎃🎃🎃 Happy Halloween! 🎃🎃🎃
We thought perhaps the opening lines of Terry's Wyrd Sisters will help set the mood...
"The wind howled 💨. Lightning stabbed at the earth erratically⚡, like an inefficient assassin. Thunder rolled back and forth across the dark, rain-lashed hills ⛈.
The night was as black as the inside of a cat. It was the kind of night, you could believe, on which gods moved men as though they were pawns on the chessboard of fate. In the middle of this elemental storm a fire gleamed among the dripping furze bushes like the madness in a weasel’s eye 🔥. It illuminated three hunched figures. As the cauldron bubbled an eldritch voice shrieked: “When shall we three meet again?”
There was a pause.
Finally another voice said, in far more ordinary tones: “Well, I can do next Tuesday.”

@David_Moscrop @Asskickerleague A referendum on the different options, none of which include FPTP. Sell it as we are strengthening our democratic systems; you choose how.
Ontario's threatening to do the opposite and block bike lanes if they remove a car lane, but it doesn't have to be that way. Small shoots of hope elsewhere.
Happy to report that @CAgovernor has signed #SB689, which will cut unnecessary red tape in the development of bike lanes, dedicated transit lanes and pedestrian walkways along California’s coastline. We want to encourage projects in coastal areas that make non-driving options easier and safer!
@Laskinator2@ottawacity@OC_Transpo I used to bike to Tunneys for the LRT but now I won't risk leaving it at the station, so I'm one fewer data point.
Conversely, if I could exit an LRT station and jump on a bike share I'd be right back.
@AuthorJCybulski@christaggart Public health, emergency services, library services, community services, paratranspo, septic sludge processing, repairs on the roads to which the private roads connect... the tax dollars also go to the rurals and the burbs.
@Toon_Dreessen God I hate it here. Almost 20 years and shit never gets better, just another set of clowns actively making it worse. Wish I were still in Copenhagen.
Fast food chains in Canada never have to try things like this to "find efficiencies" because we have temporary foreign workers :) #blessed https://t.co/7WFea6xYP3
@MichaelLeoM @DerrickSimpson_ A broader point here is that complaining about poor LRT service misses the mark - it's actually pretty good - and fails to put heat on the city where they are really failing - lack of buses, cutting the LRT headways off-peak, crowded trains, bus delays, etc.
📣UPDATE: We expect the ~1 m asteroid discovered this morning to strike Earth's atmosphere over the Philippines near Luzon Island at 16:46 UTC today.
However the nearby tropical storm Yagi/Enteng will make fireball observations difficult.
Stay safe everyone!
I can think of several architects and builders that will enjoy and agree with this thread about planning controls around upper-level setbacks, i.e. apartment buildings that resemble wedding cakes.

@sfyro@OttawaBylaw I assume that after receiving a complaint from a Very Concerned Citizen, Bylaw would go and see if a notice letter is warranted. But one should never assume, and maybe the notice just got sent automatically after the complaint was received? How does this all work?
