Social Care Small Talk. Small talk, big issues. Improve Social Care today through education, training, knowledge and sharing good practice. @care_small
@ERunswickBMA@healthyyoultd I am reading a lot of comments on this thread relating to shared experiences, nurse bashing, shock that this has happened and general distaste but I have not read any advice on how to challenge toxic behaviours or how to change negative cultures.
Enabling timely discharge from hospital is important for people's wellbeing & outcomes. One issue with this plan is that we're not short of care home beds, we're short of care staff. Skilled and experienced care staff cannot be conjured up over night.

Our new guides provide information to older people (and their families) about the rights they have when moving into and living in a care home, and details of organisations that can provide support if people have concerns about their rights.

Falls are not an inevitable part of growing older, there's lots we can do to reduce our risk of falling including conversations with families and friends about the action we can take to prevent a fall. Read the Commissioner’s statement: https://t.co/q2aHnYBuyo #FallsAwareness2022
Almost 2 years of PCR testing for care homes which finished last week. I suddenly feel unwell Monday of this week, it takes an LFD until Thursday to show positive, would a PCR have picked it up sooner??
Imagine a team short of players. Nobody to pass to. No one on your shoulder to relieve you when you’ve nothing left.
Now imagine being short of 1719 team members. That’s the reality for nursing staff in Wales.

This is so powerful. Loneliness can have a profound effect on people. If you have two minutes to view please do and if you have an hour or two a week to spare, please consider volunteering! Thanks for sharing @BrianwDolan.
I keep re-reading this. Just horror. No words. "At 1.15am his oxygen saturations were recorded for the last time, at 35%. ...... No observations were recorded again until 5.05am. At 6am Ben was struck twice by a member of staff." https://t.co/NhW9jR2i6a
This is a consultation on whether care workers should have to be vaccinated to do their job (unless they are exempt). @DHSCgovuk@Helen_Whately want to hear from more of us who draw on social care, also other settings than care homes.

@piersmorgan unfortunately most care homes residents were not admitted into hospital following a COVID diagnosis as blanket ACP AND DNACPRs were put in place. #GMB#Carehomes#governmentfailings
‘As long as you’re alive you have rights. Until your last breath you have the right to be treated with dignity.’ Beautifully and powerfully put by one of the older people I met this week. Thank you for inspiring me.

In September, Carers Wales released the latest #TrackTheAct report.
This illustrated that the Act is not supporting #carers as intended. You can help us see how things are changing by filling in this year's Track The Act on our website.

@blimeysimon@ONS Only 3.5% of unpaid carers had a carers assessment in Wales this year. 96% of care in Wales is provided by unpaid carers #statsoftheyear 🤔
For many #doctors surgeries, either today or tomorrow is the final day you can order a repeat prescription before #Christmas.
Make sure your loved one has the medicine they need over the holiday period.
