@razibkhan A lot of this nutty thinking is affecting our elite as well @razibkhan There is a proposal to ban gas stoves and furnaces in the SFBA because they emit NOX.
NOX readings over the last 3 years have never exceeded 2.5% here, way below the WHO safety limit.
@tunguz You're thinking of Yahoo. The first https://t.co/RVb6a5D5tf was a tiny Sun server called sumo(I think) which was in the grad students' trailer. Crashed the university network but Stanford helped Yahoo get started.
Last I heard sumo was in one of the CS/IT admins' office.
@tunguz By the time Google got started, the Yahoo guys had their own DC. They were kind enough to let Google host their servers in Yahoo's DC (in return for some stock)
@japan_nobunaga Some Latin American countries have birthright citizenship as well. They did this because 150 years ago they wanted settlers. India was the same until they changed citizenship act in 1987 (I think)
@LAMapNerd@bronzebust Since you're a map nerd you might find these pics interesting. The first pic of the offset road is directly across San Andreas Lake/Fault.

@benitoz SpaceX launch site would have had to be located as close to the equator as possible, so no way it could have stayed in CA. Brownsville is an excellent location btw.
But there was no need for a CA state legislator to insult Elon in this way though.
@Fintech03 Also it is close to impossible to run passenger rail profitably. You can either guarantee a rate of return like during British rule, or nationalize which is what we did after 1950.
Would be interesting to graph out how much railways has cost the Indian taxpayer over the years.
@Fintech03 He has a point. Lets acknowledge our mistakes and achievements instead of beating ourselves up.
OK, so maybe Brits built railways, canals, telegraph, infra etc for their own sake. But we benefited eventually right?
Why don't we look into the future vs. being stuck in the past?
@johnkonrad Not unusual at all. Even when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s Euro and American hippies came to IN for cheap dope.
Wish they had sent their best and brightest like you instead!
@nitinmeshram_@Yale Little known fact: Elihu Yale, benefactor of the univ was the first Mayor of Madras in 1684. Basically he took the money he made in Madras, sent it to America and they built the university.
@17Rafale11223@beebookwan It was 2-way. True the Cholas etc installed their own kings. But Nandivarman Pallava was born in SEA, died in Kanchi. We had a 1/2 Thai/Viet king at one point..lol.
