My NYSC Year was one of my worst years;

I legit died, but miraculously came back from the dead 😭.

The year prior to when I got outta Uni, I had the opportunity to pick a choice state I wanted cos my folks sorta had an uncle in the system who could get me posted to anywhere I wanted, you know the drill…. Needn’t tell you. Lol!!

Long story short , picked this state outta my own volition cos I wanted somewhere very far off from Lagos since I’ve often been and schooled in Lagos. Moreso I wanted to explore the eastern/southern states.

Voila the call up letter got out and it was the state I picked for myself. I was so enthusiastic to leave Lagos I even opted to board a bus so we’d drive through some states and I’d take a peep as against a 1hr a flight.

The weird realities started setting in when we got to the camp, the moudly areas and hilly areas , the bad camp sites , the bad bonk I was given, the army lad who cussed at me for being too slow while lifting my bags….., but I still summoned courage so I don’t start regretting early 😭

Albeit, little regrets started crippling in when the major meals served were mostly stuffs I couldn’t eat or heavily allergic to even at the camp market, every thing either had crayfish ,visible onions or unfried meat or fish.

Even in Jollof , these guys added crayfish. Never seen where people added crayfish in Jollof Rice!!! Have you seen ? 😭

God, the regrets intensified.!!

To compensate for this So I’d get posted to the capital city, I joined almost everything in that camp, Red Cross o, media o, sanitation o, even this Jackie Chan lads, I joined 😭

PPA letter got out, I not only got posted to the worst of the places in the state, I got posted to the Terrorist zone of the state, not only that, it was also the crayfish zone of the state; where they fish and fry crayfish that gets transported to other major Nigerian cities; meaning I was gonna live and breathe crayfish.

The hot tears didn’t just roll out , it flew out!!!!
