It only takes ONE bad experience in your life to slip into addiction. ONE. Deaťh, breakup, failure, unemployment, sickness, etc. So while y'all tweeting in your perfect little homes judging others who are trying to overcome addiction and sadness, remember that can be you tomorrow
If mental health REALLY mattered to you, you’d check on people BEFORE the crisis. You’d be patient with their healing. You’d listen without judgment. You’d show up even when it’s hard. Stop waiting until someone’s gone to care. Check on your people NOW. While they’re still here.
Ngl people don't believe you when you say you're drowning. as long as you're still showing up. as long as you're breathing, answering texts, doing the bare minimum, they assume you're okay.
when you say you're tired, they hear lazy.
when you say you're scared for no reason, they say you're overthinking.
when your chest tightens and your mind won't shut up, they call it stress, nerves, something you should be able to control by now. panic attacks get brushed off.
depression gets softened into moods, something easier to ignore.
not until something finally breaks, not until it's loud and ugly and undeniable and only then do people say they had no idea, like you weren't asking to be seen the entire time.
Can we talk about how exhausting it is to be emotionally intelligent in situations that don't deserve your understanding. To see everyone's perspective when nobody is extending the same courtesy to yours. To regulate your reactions while others express everything without filter or consequence. To be the bigger person so consistently that nobody even acknowledges it requires effort. Emotional intelligence is a gift.
just a reminder that there are cities like dubai and abu dhabi, literally built in a desert, that keep their grass green all year round.
we’re an island surrounded by water where it rains most of the year.
we haven’t built a new reservoir since 1992 and added ten million people. this is a choice. we loathe building infrastructure
My gf has been talking to this guy that bought a billboard in SF so that it wouldn’t be bought by a real AI company and now he just responds to anyone that messages him 😭 his name is Tucker and it took him 3 days to send her back that cat drawing
25 is the limit. After my frontal lobe developed, not only have I not been able to love in that chaotic/toxic way like I did in my early 20s on an emotional level cos it’s just off putting. It is financially irresponsible in so many ways. Literally eats away at your time, focus and ability to make money.
@Oloni I literally realised this yesterday when I was thinking that whenever I've been disrespected I never got an apology, instead it was "Well I feel like you..." Their feelings are completely valid, and because I'm a people pleaser, I will focus on how to validate their feelings-
I don’t want to "download the app" to pay for parking. I don’t want to "create an account" to see a menu. I don’t want to "provide feedback" on a 30-second interaction. I just want to exist in the physical world without a digital leash.
You need boredom. A lot of it. Start by going on walks without music. No stimulation. No distractions of any kind. If you learn to sit with your own thoughts, for long enough, in time they will start serving you. You'll start having ideas once again. You'll start developing an extreme sense of clarity that will shift you into the next stage of your life. All by being bored, which is pretty insane.
Labour, Tories, Lib Dems and Greens: I demand you stand down in Clacton. I will be a unity candidate and pledge to build at least one affordable house.
Nigel Farage says he wants The People versus the Establishment. So be it.
Leave him to me.
