No wonder the left hates him. Thank you, Elon! 🇺🇸
I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.
The full sequence, filmed by Nic Cruz Patane. Up the ramp, inverted, held upside down by the suction fans, then the cold gas thrusters flip it back onto the ground. Nine years of waiting for this one minute.
"Well it worked!"
Tesla's next-generation Roadster LIFTS OFF THE GROUND during a jaw-dropping demonstration, offering a glimpse at technology that could change what an electric sports car can do.
The experimental vehicle uses a fan-powered suction system and compressed-air thrusters to control its movement and landing.
Elon Musk said certain versions of the Roadster can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than one second and reach a top speed of more than 230 mph.
But don't expect to see this version cruising down the highway anytime soon. The prototype isn't approved for public roads, and Tesla is targeting 2028 for Roadster production.

This is absolutely disgraceful journalism from the @dailyecho.
A 93-year-old man has tragically lost his life following a collision involving THREE vehicles.
A Ford Focus, a Kia Sportage and a Tesla Model Y.
Yet which vehicle does the Daily Echo choose to single out in its headline?
The Tesla.
Not the Ford Focus, which the deceased man was actually driving.
Not the Kia Sportage, which was also involved.
Just the Tesla.
Why?
There is absolutely nothing in the information presented to suggest that the Tesla, its technology or the fact it was electric caused the collision.
So why is Tesla the only manufacturer considered important enough to feature in the headline?
This is a perfect example of the selective reporting that fuels misinformation and negative perceptions around electric vehicles.
Three cars involved.
Three different manufacturers.
One singled out for the headline.
A man has lost his life.
His death deserves accurate, respectful reporting, not a headline that unnecessarily draws attention to one particular brand.
Journalism should be about reporting the facts, not exploiting a tragedy for clicks.
The Daily Echo should be ashamed of this headline.
.
A parked Tesla in a California lot. Empty. Minding its own business.
Kia pulls up. Guy gets out with a spray can. Tags the door. Walks off.
That’s not protest. That’s a crime with better lighting.
The owner didn’t give a speech. The car didn’t cast a vote. Sentry mode just recorded someone treating a stranger’s property like a comment section.
Leave other people’s cars alone.
