I'm just your average weirdo. (she/her)

NEW: THREAD: A new ruling from Judge McBurney in Georgia overturning the abortion ban and allowing the procedure to continue has some REMARKABLE quotes. Let's take a look at just a few. 1/

[World Central Kitchen @WCKitchen]

WCK’s Rapid Response Field Kitchen arrived in Steinhatchee, FL less than 12 hours after Hurricane Helene passed through the area. Our team immediately set up to start cooking delicious chicken and rice, which we distributed with water bottles to impacted families. #ChefsForFlorida

JUST IN: Entire home seen floating away in Asheville, North Carolina as tropical storm Helene demolishes the state.

The situation is so bad that a 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. curfew is now in effect.

The city is facing what experts are calling a 1 in 1000-year event with the French Broad River reaching over 25 feet, breaking the July 16, 1916 record of 23.1 feet.

I'm old enough to remember 2016, when a lot of millennials got suckered into believing that Hillary Clinton was just as bad as Donald Trump and didn't vote. That's why millennials are chewing Chappell Roan's ass up. They remember how we ended up with Trump the first time.

[Scott Maxwell @Scott_Maxwell]

Voting matters.

[CarlatheViking @carlatheviking]

@bairdlet Probably a good move; highways get scarier every day and tbh I’m getting extremely anxious on standard roads now that I have my infant son to consider, forget dealing with Florida Man on Florida highways! Good luck dealing with the morons!

[CarlatheViking @carlatheviking]

@bairdlet If you’re in the right lane, no. If you’re in the middle/left lane of a highway, yeah that’s dangerous, tbh. But people are becoming worse and worse drivers. Not sure if it’s road rage or what, but it’s a documented phenomenon at this point

[Robert Reich @RBReich]

Project 2025 calls for teachers & librarians to be "imprisoned" over banned books. This is on page 5.

[Scott Maxwell @Scott_Maxwell]

A look at what was a bleak, defining moment for Central Florida - when state and local officials caved to development lobbyists and agreed to plow a toll road through conservation land they'd promised to protect forever.
We can do better.

[Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith @CarlosGSmith]

DEVASTATING: DeSantis just vetoed Cultural & Museum and facility grants that funded 577 arts programs and 33 facilities across Florida.

These funds would have secured even more matching dollars for exponential rate of return.

This is insane and never happened in modern history.

[Arnaud Bertrand @RnaudBertrand]

These have undoubtedly been the wildest 72 hours in French politics in my lifetime. Pretty incredible stuff.

[Cora Harrington @CoraCHarrington]

As tomorrow’s #MetGala approaches, I would like to remind everyone that while the part you may be most familiar with is the red carpet event, the *actual* department the Met Gala funds is the unglamorous thing you don’t think about the other 364 days/year…the Costume Institute.

[Andrew—#IAmTheResistance @AmoneyResists]

I have never stopped thinking about this, and neither should you.

[Elizabeth Warren @SenWarren]

BREAKING: Direct file is a success!

90% gave a positive review, and it delivered over $90 million in refunds.

It’s clear that Americans want an easy and free way to file their taxes directly with the IRS — without paying junk fees.

[Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський @ZelenskyyUa]

Chag Pesach Sameach to all Jewish communities in Ukraine and around the world.

For the third year in a row, Jewish families in Ukraine gather around festive tables during times of full-scale Russian aggression, while many Jews defend their families and country on the front lines.

May this year's Passover remind us all of the value of life and freedom, which must be protected from aggression and terror. May it renew hope for the inevitable triumph of good over evil.

I’m a leftist teacher. If I were actually capable of indoctrinating your kids, they’d wear deodorant, stay off their phones in class, and stop answering every question with “bruh”

@JulieTheCranky I know this is not the point, but all I see when I look at this dress is a white maxi dress with a white sweater tied around the waist 😂

[CarlatheViking @carlatheviking]

@SusieMadrak I believed them when they said it about Liz Warren…got suspicious when it was about Hillary, and I’m fully over it about Kamala.

[Tammy Duckworth @SenDuckworth]

To all those Republicans who suddenly claim to support IVF—today would be a great day to get out of the way and let the Senate pass my bill to protect access to IVF nationwide.
