Two Texas oil billionaire brothers are fueling a rightwing media and political ecosystem of climate change denialism with millions of dollars.

Farris and Dan Wilks, who have made their fortunes off of oil and gas fracking are putting millions of dollars into various right wing media outlets that then promote climate denialism. They're also backing a slew of evangelical projects and right-wing Texas politicians.

Each of the brothers has given millions of dollars, through their network of non-profits and foundations, to right-wing religious and media causes that help back the Republican Party and climate change denialism.

Two of the projects they've decided to pour millions into are the far-right Daily Wire, as well as the misinformation machine Prager University, both which vehemently deny there is a climate crisis. PragerU, which has received a staggering $8 million from the brothers, has even created children's material on climate denialism.

Farris Wilks gave $4.7 million to launch the Daily Wire with Ben Shapiro. Farris has gone on extensive rants against homosexuality, which he claims is a sin. In various recordings of his sermons, he says homosexuality is “a perversion tantamount to bestiality, pedophilia and incest."

The brothers are also huge backers of Ted Cruz, whose 2016 SuperPAC they gave $15 million.

Darren Dochuk, a history professor at the University of Notre Dame and author of Anointed with Oil said “Thanks to their incredible wealth and largesse, the country as well as the Republican party are now feeling the effects of their aggressive brand of religiously-charged political activism...The Wilks brothers epitomize the new strain of religious-right culture-warring that has taken hold of the GOP."

The two brothers' foundations have nearly $200 million in assets ready to deploy on their ideological projects.

Why aren't these brothers and their perverse influence over American politics, media and society a much bigger story?
