then we digitized the whole haunted archive, shattered every sentence into numerical fragments, converted meaning itself into coordinates inside mathematical space, and passed those coordinates through layer after layer of artificial neurons until a machine could imitate the accumulated voice of civilization without possessing lungs, blood, childhood, hunger, memory, or death.

and we summoned this disembodied composite ghost of the human species to ask:

“does this text make me sound needy?”
