https://t.co/Zhi57T7Koa The article talks about “sports rage” parents getting out of control, yelling and fighting with others. what are they teaching the kids who are just trying to have fun and play the sport. These kinds of parents can ruin the sport for the kids. @KIN110UofR
@HolmanMackenzie@dallen__@KIN110UofR I think that’s the problem is people see it as normal! I understand to a certain point how you don’t let injuries stop you and push through but it’s getting to a point where serious injuries are disregarded! @KIN110UofR
https://t.co/FXwlC21SK8 I found this example of over-conformity, these people are taking things to far and pushing their bodies past the limits, but this concept is accepted as normal by society. It is because it is accepted that people do it. #KIN1102019@KIN110UofR
@dallen__@KIN110UofR Yes I do agree that athletes are aware of the risks and are willing to put anything on the line to get the outcome they want but should it be like this? Is there a point that you stop? When the injuries get too serious and put your health I think that is too far! @KIN110UofR
@tatiann86965177@KIN110UofR This really shows what people will do just to get back to playing. I think it’s a bit crazy that people disregard their bodies to do whatever they can to get back playing! @KIN110UofR
@OlijnykTherese @KIN110UofR Wow that is a crazy stat and really shows how much people of color are still discriminated against. Do you think numbers would ever get close to the same? #racism
@WiebeCaitlin@KIN110UofR Yes I agree with this! It is such a great accomplishment for her and really opens up the eyes for women athletes and overcomes many perceptions people have of male and female athletes #closingthegap
@KIN110UofR If we could implement a sugar tax here it could benefit us in a variety of ways! It would encourage people to buy healthier things, it makes it possible to choose without having to pay more if you wanted healthier foods. This would decrease obesity problems and diseases #sugartax
@KIN110UofR Social media plays such a huge role in the sports world. It keeps everyone involved and in the loop with what’s going on, without the media I think that sports would not be so popular or talked about. Do you guys think it would change a lot and how? #socialmedia
@KIN110UofR I think sponsorships have a huge role in sports! Both the sponsor and the team get many benefits! It gains publicity, increases sales, increases brand awareness and many other factors that help advertise and attract attention! #sponsorship
@MorgsSchaeffer@KIN110UofR I like both of your guys points and am not sure what side I sit on. They are both valid and I can see how people could believe both sides! I do think that buying all the merchandise shows your support and belonging in the sport!
@WiebeCaitlin Yes I think it is very important that kids do these things on their own without parents! This gives them the opportunity to work with others, compromise and learn independence!
@SavageJayd You bring up a good point! My parents did set rules to limit my screen time and always encouraged me to get outside and be active! I think it is very important that as technology is becoming greater that kids are limited and still get out and be active!
@evan_goodfellow I really can’t think of anything negative to come out of informal sports! I do believe that you will get different benefits and learn differently if you are in formal or informal sports!
There are many benefits to informal play for children! They are able to have fun without being worried about either parent or coaching pressure. They are free to be creative and make memories with friends! Kids can play slow pitch for formal play in there backyard! #Lab2KIN11019
@OlijnykTherese I think kids can have fun in both but informal is more about promoting fun for the kids! The main priority is for kids to have fun while experiencing and being physically active!😊
@JaredNoyes3 Yes informal play is a great way to give kids a good experience with physical activity and play! Do you think kids who are able to enjoy play are more likely to participate in formal sports later on? #Lab2KIN11019
@SavageJayd@KIN110UofR I agree, there is a lot that children can take out of informal play! Not only are lessons learned but they have fun and make friends and are able to socialize and be around others making memories! #informalplay
@KIN110UofR I beleive there are cases where early specialization is good but I also feel it is beneficial to be open and try different things! There is also a time in life that you might have to choose one sport to pursue but a background of many sports can be helpful! #earlyspecialization
