The hooliganism surrounding soccer is intense & bc of this I think the fans would riot the termination of this derby. Often you specialize young and need to invest a lot of your childhood into being the best. Yeah it’s a dream, but is losing yourself in the process worth it?

@OlijnykTherese @KIN110UofR Growing up, often money was an issue. My parents didn’t always have the means to put me in the competitive sports that I enjoyed. Often my participation was limited to what the school offered because it didn’t cost much.

How does this impact those lower on the socio-economic status?

@evan_goodfellow Maybe if there are aggressive kids playing informal sports then that can impact how the other kids act. B/c they have little to no adult supervision it is easier for dominant kids to impose their character onto others & teaching them that this behaviour is appropriate.

@daniel_adams321 Growing up I had an older brother and older boy cousins. Often the age gap between us left me to hang out alone and by myself since the neighbourhood I lived in at the time didn’t have many kids around. I think the environment that you grow up can be a barrier to play.
