8:30 pm. Unofficial count is around 67.
Unfortunately, we know one person has died as a result of these storms and so many homes were damaged. What a historic day.

The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon. The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon.

A sensor in Bradenton, FL picked up teleseismic p-waves all the way from the M8.8 earthquake in Russia earlier this evening. You can’t feel them, but these sensors can! They move about four miles-per-second.

Today marks one year since Hurricane Beryl tore through the Ark-La-Tex. Beryl spawned 67 tornado warnings that produced 43 tornadoes in the region. We were on for close to 8 hours straight tracking the storms. I will never forget that day.
