@mabonapgwynfor also needs to speak with @HysteroscopyA so women in Wales receive the pain relief we’re entitled to for these barbaric procedures. The thought of another woman experiencing what I did is so upsetting and unacceptable in 2026. Welsh women deserve better.
Miss Elizabeth Ball discusses 'impalement' with regards to hysteroscopy. Women in her awake hysteroscopy video workshop didn't want imagery suggesting impalement. Our campaign notes that a bucket & sick bowl were also missing from the cartoon strip. https://t.co/RZ6GsFV7IL
@TTeulu@HysteroscopyA That’s what I thought. To deny women pain relief for a procedure known to cause pain and distress in order to test something which has been tried multiple times before, seems distinctly unethical to me - cruel in fact
12K callous hysteroscopies. @TheBSGE Clark & De Silva must involve the Campaign Against Painful Hysteroscopy in writing a 'core outcome set' for OPH and revising the biased 2019 Benchmarking questionnaire. See Action 7 renewed Women's Health Strategy https://t.co/noOndTRape
A staggering 12,854 women have now completed our survey and told us in great detail about their barbaric outpatient hysteroscopy experiences. This is a NATIONAL DISGRACE. We demand change. We deserve better.
@HysteroscopyA@RCObsGyn@TheBSGE Using the VAS pain score what level of preventable unnecessary pain would be considered acceptable ?
I would say any pain >4 so when looking at 2 studies I'v seen 64% and 59.2% of patients would have to endure pain that's not 1 in 3 that's been banded about to downplay pain.
Had a hysteroscopy with just ibuprofen from home as pain relief?
The NHS practice of ibuprofen + distraction is based on flawed @RCObsGyn/@TheBSGE guidance that removes anaesthesia.
Ibuprofen is for mild/moderate pain. https://t.co/32IFXzJ2Es It's not a nerve block.
They are mistaken. I will continue fighting for recognition of what they did, and trying to stop it happening to the next woman. Why are we having to fight like this in 2026? Pain relief should be the first thing offered. Shameful response.
@HysteroscopyA
Today I received the response to my complaint from my health board after a barbaric operative Hysteroscopy in feb. I have never read such garbage in my life. Poorly written, inaccurate and contains outright lies. They say I was offered a GA. I was not. That I wasn’t distressed 🧵
Q. Can deceiving patients be morally acceptable? https://t.co/qvTiLZazOL
A. It's unethical to tell women that NHS outpatient hysteroscopy 'usually causes mild discomfort similar to period pain', when there's evidence from @RCObsGyn that 1 in 3 suffer severe pain in OP.
Due hysteroscopy @WestonNHS? Please insist on some form of anaesthesia, or at the very least Penthrox. Please don't be tricked as this 2025 patient was. She was told "pain relief is ineffective" & was encouraged to complete a procedure while in severe pain. @rebeccamallick
https://t.co/yK5s748L6h Almost unbelievably some hospitals have been recommending women take just paracetamol before uterine endosocopy (aka hysteroscopy). Numerous respondents to our dissatisfaction survey tell us, "Paracetamol is a joke!"
@HysteroscopyA@KenZeroHarm@DrLSpain@BirthTrauma@NHSGIRFT@TheBSGE@RCObsGyn No complete NHS data ever collected on outpatient hysteroscopy. No patient reported outcomes. But the NHS continued to rollout removal of anaesthesia financially incentivise by over payment for the quick cheap painful outpatients hysteroscopy.
@KenZeroHarm@DrLSpain@BirthTrauma@NHSGIRFT@clarky_on Dodgy & missing data has been a large part of the hysteroscopy scandal. @TheBSGE@RCObsGyn Women were assured that only 2% of patients had problems during outpatient hysteroscopy. Then NHS audits started showing 1 in 4, then 1 in 3 patients suffering severe pain & distress.
