@WhigStandard Put it along the 401/417 corridor. A route through the environmentally sensitive Frontenac Arch might help Ottawa & Montreal travelers’s but it removes service from almost 500,000 people along the St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario, many of whom rely on regular VIA service.
@CKWS_TV This train will completely bypass the current VIA corridor that passes through Kingston and surrounding area serving over 300,000 people. It will be eliminate VIA travel from Kingston to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and beyond.
@MarkJCarney But it will disconnect around 300,000 people in southeastern Ontario who depend on Rail transit to Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. It will put so many more cars on the road and turn Kingston and area into a wasteland.
The Iraq/Afghanistan fiascos were expensive and humiliating for the US, who (as always) needed a scapegoat and a pretext for retreating from imperial overreach that wasn't premised on defeat. Europe is that scapegoat & pretext.
The US has merely recalibrated its self-interest.
@gmacofglebe@David_Moscrop D T has enjoyed his slippery slope into the depths of corruption far too long while causing too much damage. Opposition parties need to develop a spine & confront this every day. The media has turned a blind eye to much of it as they have in the US to D T. Citizens need to act.
