Sheriff Chapman responds to false claims about LCSO and ICE

In a letter to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors today, Sheriff Mike Chapman addressed misinformation circulating about the Sheriff's Office and ICE:

"We do not conduct field enforcement with or on behalf of ICE, and any claim or implication to the contrary is false."

He added that LCSO is determined to protect the trust it has built with Loudoun communities — and will keep calling out efforts to use false information to undermine that trust and put public safety at risk.

The Board takes up the issue at today's business meeting.

Leesburg Police Make Arrest in Fort Evans Road Shooting Investigation

Leesburg, VA (August 28, 2026) – The Leesburg Police Department has arrested a person in connection with the August 21 shooting in the 0 block of Fort Evans Road NE that left one person injured.

This morning, the Leesburg Police Department, with assistance from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant in the 0 block of Fort Evans Road SE as part of the ongoing investigation. A juvenile was arrested and charged with
-One count of aggravated malicious
-One count of attempted malicious wounding
-One count of wearing a mask to conceal identity
-One count of discharge a firearm within town limits
-One count of conspiracy to commit a felony

On August 21, at approximately 10 p.m., officers responded to the 0 block of Fort Evans Road NE for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital and has since been released.

Because the individual is a juvenile, identifying information is not being released at this time.

This remains an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Leesburg Police Department at 703-771-4500.
