@NewstalkFM In Denmark it’s 9 years of continuous residency, Italy 10 years, Sweden & Norway 8 years. India is 12 years total for someone with no links to India and 7 years for those of Indian origin. Eight years with language requirements etc. brings us into line with most other nations.

@pbrennan10 @NiecyOKeeffe The Commissioners of Irish Lights are the only body that has a legal right of way, due to the lighthouse. Previously the public just walked to the gates of the lighthouse then turned back. For a right of way you need to have used it for passage to a property or facility eg a pier

@craftbeersoflre Great speech & he’s right, Ireland hosts the European & Middle Eastern HQ’s for the likes of Apple, Intel etc. employing tens of thousands. They will not identify & separate the accounts of Israeli clients. They will move the complete service to the likes of Germany or Austria

@paulpmcg @wlrfm @damienwlr Yes an existing airport as you outlined but I just wonder about viability. Outside of Waterford what is the catchment area? People from Tipp, Kilkenny, Carlow etc. tend to use Dublin for choice. Also 3 airports in Munster already & just 1 in Leinster with twice the population.

@joeKMorris @brianmlucey Pension taxes for public servants on €100k+? Isn’t this just pension contribution. Everyone with an occupational pension has to pay this and up to the introduction of auto enrolment this year, they was no obligation on the employer to contribute in the private sector.

@paulmurphy_TD Re-nationalise our energy? Isn’t the ESB group, Eirgrid group, Gas Networks Ireland, Bord Na Mona, FuturEnergy Ireland etc. all currently state owned. What’s your point? Do you want no private sector involvement at all? What’s next, state construction company, collective farms?

@donlav @wbarrettgc I think what’s proposed is to base the two ex. NZ navy patrol vessels there. They were purchased for patrolling the Irish Sea and Dun Laoghaire would be an ideal base for that. Savings on fuel, time & it’s good for recruitment. Maintenance etc. would still be undertaken in Cork.

@independent_ire @ciaranmullooly Don’t forget the disastrous quota reduction the Irish fishing industry received for 2026 from the EU. A far bigger reduction than the other EU states and also our EU “comrade” countries voted against the Hague Preferences, further crippling the industry.
