They clearly didn’t make the best financial decision, but they also didn’t go the “let’s get the best teams route.”

Under Saban, if Bama wasn’t playing well in the first half, you had some level of confidence that adjustments would be made at the half. This coaching staff seems unable or unwilling to do anything other than tell them to just keep doing what they are doing.

This Bama coaching seems like when you had a substitute teacher. You were given busy work, you weren’t going to learn anything and there was always the real possibility the students could take over the classroom and tie up the hapless sub.
