OLDER GENERATION: You just need to want it bad enough.
GEN Z: I applied to 340 jobs this year. I have a degree. I have internship experience. I customized every single resume.
OLDER GENERATION: Back in my day you just walked into a building and asked for an application.
GEN Z: There's no building. There's no person. There's a portal that scans my resumes for keywords before a human ever sees it exists.
OLDER GENERATION: Sounds like you're not trying hard enough.
GEN Z: I got 6 human responses out of 340 applications. The other 334 were auto-rejections generated in under a second, Sometimes I'd even finished submitting the form.
OLDER GENERATION: We didn't have it easy either, you know.
GEN Z: I believe you. I'm just telling you what "easy" and "hard" look like on opposite ends of the same system, and asking you to actually hear it instead of matching it to your own story and moving on.
OLDER GENERATION: . ... ...
GEN Z: That's the part that gets me. It's not even that you struggled. It's that you won't believe mine is real.
Thrilled that people are going to the movies, not so thrilled that it feels like many of them are massive losers incapable of sitting silently without a second screen for a few hours
It's not lettuce that's the problem; it's the literal shit that's being left on it due to inhumane work conditions and insufficient sanitation. Public health is something no one notices until there's a problem.
I hate that fanfic is not considered reading. It is literally reading. I am literally constantly reading. Just because I’m reading unpublished novels doesn’t mean I’m not reading some of the best works of writing I have ever read. And it should count. Yk what. It counts to me.
