@GrainsGorilla@grains_jamescol NE Colorado wheat farmer here …our wheat in bad shape, as no moisture all winter. We got ,8 tenths rain, which was a huge help. We need inches and will be suffering again soon, if it doesn’t keep coming…
@TheDailyCowman 60 miles from that plant, Cargill Fort Morgan hasn’t been running since last Thursday… crickets… labor issues so we are told … shipped cattle this am to Dodge City, 6.5 hour haul…
Let me tell you about the most efficient machine ever designed.
It runs on water and grass: nothing else. Requires no fuel, no electricity, no maintenance schedule.
It produces:
- Complete protein (all essential amino acids)
- Bioavailable vitamins (B12, K2, D)
- Essential fats in perfect ratios
- Leather (waterproof, durable, biodegradable)
- Tallow (shelf-stable cooking fat, soap base, candle material)
- Bones (tools, broth with collagen and minerals, ground fertilizer)
- Organs (most nutrient-dense foods on Earth)
- Manure (fertilizer that builds soil instead of depleting it)
While operating, it:
- Builds topsoil through hoof action and manure
- Increases water retention in the soil
- Sequesters atmospheric carbon into the ground
- Supports entire ecosystems of insects, birds, and microorganisms
- Improves biodiversity
And here's the remarkable part: it reproduces itself. For free. No assembly line. No rare earth minerals. No planned obsolescence.
The machine is a cow.
We're told to eliminate them and replace them with:
- Tractors (fossil fuels)
- Synthetic fertilizers (natural gas)
- Pesticides (petroleum)
- Shipping networks (diesel)
- Processing facilities (electricity)
- Refrigeration networks (electricity)
- Supplements for missing nutrients (industrial manufacturing)
All to produce nutritionally inferior food that requires synthetic inputs at every stage.
The stupidity is so profound it feels deliberate.
@TonyClimate@ChrisMartzWX Fourth generation dryland farmer in NE Colorado here. My grand parents talked a lot about the dirty thirties… We haven’t had the dry and heat like the thirties in the plains and corn belt since. The technology and chemistry to notill farm wasn’t here till my generation….
@JerodMcDaniel Not sure the price relationship between live cattle and corn or wheat has ever been more out of whack... It will correct, the question is how long it will take???
@CBKimbrell Very accurate assessment I would think. Modern varieties in the corn belt haven’t experienced “dirty 30’s “ type heat and drought on a broad scale… yet… and don’t believe we will be pleasantly surprised…
@wildcatfdr1@JimEspy Yep solar farms in Colorado run 24 7 365 , except at night… or when it’s cloudy… or when they are covered with snow… or broken from hail… it all works till it doesn’t
