So @theicai watched Rajasthan HC ask "Did ICAI even file a representation?" and said... nothing.
TAR deadline is in 2 days. CBDT has no answer. Court adjourned to tomorrow 2 PM.
Meanwhile, 1,00,000+ CAs are supposed to just... wait? Or file blind?
ICAI, your members aren't asking for much. Just one statement. One representation. One sign that you exist when it matters.
Silence isn't neutrality. It's abdication.

TAX AUDIT EXTENSION
If the Government intends to extend → say it clearly.
If it does not → say that clearly too.
But keeping the profession waiting until the fag end of the deadline serves nobody.
Tax compliance needs certainty.
Professionals deserve clarity.

Rajasthan HC RTCA Writ Today Update
Rajasthan HC has asked CBDT to issue clear instructions today itself on whether the Tax Audit due date is being extended or not.
The Court also observed that this issue should not be stretched till the last date.
And then came the biggest point - the Court told RTCA that if CAs are facing difficulties, it is the responsibility of ICAI to approach the High Court, since Tax Audit is primarily carried out by Chartered Accountants.
CBDT Lead counsel didnt come today due to the reason that his family member was unwell.
Next Hearing is Tomorrow

MAKE TAX AUDIT UPLOAD DUE DATE 31st OCTOBER - PERMANENTLY
Until AY 2025-26, CAs had a clear 60-day gap—from 1 August to 30 September—to complete Tax Audits.
For AY 2026-27, the non-audit business ITR due date was extended from 31 July to 31 August 2026, which helped ease portal load.
But what about the 60-day clear window for Tax Audit?
Tax Audit is not just uploading a report. It requires execution, checking, reconciliation, reporting, UDIN, uploading, and continuous interaction with clients for data, clarifications and corrections. Quality audit requires adequate time.
Like me , There are many CAs and their teams who have not taken a single Sunday off in the last 4 months, working continuously through the compliance season.
If professionals are expected to deliver quality, they also deserve a reasonable and structured timeline.
The solution is simple:- Make Tax Audit due date 31 October for every year with and merge it with Audit ITR due date, giving a clear 60-day gap from 1 September to 31 October.
Its hight time to Treat Chartered Accountants with the respect and reasonable time that the responsibility deserves.
CBDT Chairman Sir,

Please extend the Tax Audit Due Date immediately & provide much-needed relief to taxpayers and professionals.
Why wait for a Court order to act? If judicial intervention ultimately requires an extension, the Government will have to extend it anyway.
A timely, voluntary decision today would avoid unnecessary uncertainty, litigation and last-minute pressure.
Extend the Tax Audit Due Date now.

TAX AUDIT DEADLINE EXTENSION — NOT JUST A PROFESSIONAL DEMAND, BUT A SOCIAL CAUSE
The demand to extend the Tax Audit due date to 31st October permanently is not merely about giving Chartered Accountants more time.
It is about creating a realistic compliance framework that protects the quality of audits, the well-being of professionals and the larger public interest.
THE PROFESSIONAL CAUSE:
A Tax Audit is not a mechanical exercise of filling forms.
It involves examination of books and records, verification of documents, reconciliations, analysis of tax provisions, identification of discrepancies, preparation of reports and professional review before the report is finally signed.
Trying to complete this entire process within an extremely compressed period can create unnecessary pressure and increase the risk of inadvertent errors, incomplete verification and compromised professional review.
Quality audit requires time. Professional judgement cannot be rushed.
THE HUMAN CAUSE:
Behind every Tax Audit is a professional and a team of people working long hours to meet the statutory deadline.
Late nights, extended working hours and continuous deadline pressure affect the health, family life and overall well-being of professionals and their teams.
Compliance should not come at the cost of professional well-being and sustainable working conditions.
THE SOCIAL & PUBLIC-INTEREST CAUSE:
The quality of a Tax Audit ultimately affects more than the Chartered Accountant.
It contributes to accurate financial reporting, correct tax compliance and a more reliable tax administration system.
A rushed audit may satisfy a date on the calendar, but a properly performed audit serves the larger objective of accuracy, transparency and compliance.
THE REAL OBJECTIVE:
This is not a demand for less compliance.
It is a demand for adequate time to achieve better compliance.
Adequate Time → Better Verification → Better Audit → Better Compliance
An extension to 31st October would provide a more practical and sustainable timeline for completing Tax Audits with the care and professional diligence they deserve.
EVERY DAY COUNTS.
Every day without a decision means less time for proper verification, review and quality.
🙏 EXTEND THE TAX AUDIT DUE DATE TO 31ST OCTOBER — PERMANENTLY.
NOT LESS COMPLIANCE.
NOT LESS ACCOUNTABILITY.
JUST MORE TIME FOR QUALITY.
📢 This is a professional cause.
This is a human cause.
This is a public-interest cause.
