In the life of an architect, there are moments of privilege working with families deeply embedded in a city's essence. Ellis Island stands as a Las Vegas icon, embodying vision, hard work, and community ties. The recent expansion reflects years of triumph, propelling the family business towards an even brighter tomorrow. Adjacent to Formula 1, Ellis Island is set to script a remarkable success tale in Las Vegas.
A sincere appreciation to the Ellis family for entrusting us with this pivotal endeavor, and to Chi Chi Bengochea for skillfully navigating construction around a thriving business. Kudos to the Steelman Partners team for bringing this vision to fruition:
- Architectural Designers: Suzanne Taylor Steelman, Patrick Hanson, Mimi Haro, Drew Solache
- Interior Designer: Linnae Eastwood, Forrest Beesley
- Lighting Designer: Luke Olson and the entire 3D Team
Our entire office contributed significantly, culminating in a project that resonates with our collective pride—a tribute to Ellis Island's heritage while embracing its future.

✨ Opening Night Magic at the @SphereVegas ✨
Last night’s premiere of The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere was nothing short of historic. 🌈🎬
Bravo to @EdDolan and the 500+ visionaries who brought Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, and the Wizard himself to life in breathtaking fashion. The production was so real, so immersive, so magical—it redefined how movies can be experienced.

Christine Cordes Visits Steelman Partners' Vietnam Office
It was a pleasure hosting Christine Cordes, the Director of HR at Steelman Partners, at our Vietnam office. Christine had the opportunity to meet the incredible team she had previously only connected with via video conference, and she was genuinely impressed by their dedication and talent.
Christine was equally captivated by the beauty of Vietnam, taking in the rich culture and vibrant atmosphere. She was amazed by how our talented team in Vietnam plays a crucial role in the Steelman Design and Documentation Process, helping to shape innovative spaces that not only captivate guests but also create unforgettable selfie moments.
Special thanks to Randy Park for managing such an incredible office, which has become a hub for our design and documentation efforts. The Las Vegas office truly values Christine's visit and the chance to strengthen our global connections.
We're proud of the outstanding work our Vietnam team does and grateful for the opportunity to share it with Christine! #steelmanpartners #architecture #casino #vietnam #macau #slotmachines #lasvegaslife #lasvegasusiness #lasvegas
The Memorial Day Parade was always an incredible treat. In 1966, Longport's small beach town was adorned with flags, signaling the start of summer. Our Cub Scout troop was thrilled to take part in this meaningful occasion, honoring those who had served and helped shape the country we all grew up in. Despite missing the beach and the summer barbecue, we felt privileged to march alongside the veterans and active military personnel. I carried our scout troop flag, an honor in the front row. Though we were too young to understand our forefathers' sacrifices entirely, we knew we were living in a very special country—the United States of America. Memorial Day is the one day to express our gratitude. Happy Memorial Day. #steelmanpartners #longport #memorialday #america #unitedstates #armedforces #cubscouts #boyscouts #margate
We launched the Vietnam Financial Center nine years ago to transform Vietnam's financial and entertainment landscapes. The partnership was formed with industry giants such as Bill Weidner, the mastermind behind the iconic properties developed by Las Vegas Sands, Howard Lutnick of Cantor Fitzgerald, Jonathan Hanh Nguyen, a distinguished Vietnamese entrepreneur with successful ventures across Vietnam and Las Vegas, and me, Paul Steelman, a Las Vegas architect. Vietnam is on the brink of remarkable growth, but it requires a well-organized legal framework to protect local and international businesses. Over the years, we have had the support of prominent figures in America, including the late Senators John McCain and Harry Reid, whose advocacy for the country was invaluable. Change takes time, especially in a country with such immense potential. One day, Vietnam will embrace the creation of two large financial centers, serving as gateways to reintroduce the Western world to this dynamic nation.#steelmanpartners #Casino #financialcenter #casino #lasvegas #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegaslife #finance #Vietnam

Hosting Lasvit executives Brian Hardy, Pavel Koudelka, and Leon Jakimic at the Steelman Las Vegas offices was a pleasure. As always, they showcased incredible works of art in glass. Congratulations to Lasvit for pioneering a new form of modern art. I typically refrain from endorsing individuals running for public office, but I am making an exception. Zach Conine has proven himself an outstanding Nevada State Treasurer, and I am proud to endorse him for Attorney General. Under Zach's leadership, the financial health of the State of Nevada has reached unprecedented levels, marking the strongest financial position in our 161-year history. His achievements as Treasurer have been remarkable. In addition to his expertise in finance, Zach is a lawyer, has worked in the private financial sector, and has experience operating a casino in our city. Zach is one of those exceptional Americans whose contributions to Nevada are impressive and inspiring. His vision and commitment will continue to benefit our state as Attorney General. Zach is supported by a wonderful family, including his wife Layke and their children: daughter Ruby and twin sons Rutherford and Theodore. Nevada is fortunate to have someone of Zach's caliber looking out for the well-being of its people. #zachconine #Nevada #Las Vegas #lasvegaslife #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegaspolitics #stateattorneygeneral
The passing of Pope Francis this morning at the Vatican has dealt a devastating blow to humanity across the globe. Throughout his life, the Pope championed the role of modern art in conveying truth, inspiring countless individuals with his unwavering commitment to integrity and compassion.
Pope Francis once said, “Like the biblical prophets, you confront things that are at times uncomfortable; you criticize today’s false myths and new idols, its empty talk, the ploys of consumerism, the schemes of power.”
We will all pray for Pope Francis and for his successor—a leader not defined by power, but by compassion, who will advocate for the poor, immigrants, and the protection of the environment. #steelmanpartners #popefrancis #vatican #lasvegas #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegaslife

I’ve always admired this iconic image of Sol Kerzner’s Lost City in South Africa. It was taken from the Lost City Entertainment Center, designed by Conversano Associates and Steelman Partners, with a view across the “Bridge of Time” — a bridge that genuinely felt like it was shaking, as if an earthquake was underway, as it spanned the distance to WATG’s Lost City Hotel. The photo captures a dramatic night in the South African hinterlands, a scene that, in many ways, reflects the turbulence we face today. However, like all things, life will return to a new normal and be better than ever. Rest in peace, Henry Conversano, Gerry Allison, and Sol Kerzner. #steelmanpartners #lostcity #lasvegas #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegaslife #casino #hotelresorts #gaming #southafrica
Rest in peace, John Strzemp. Only Steve Wynn could recognize the exceptional potential of a poker champion and hire him as CFO and later CEO of Treasure Island when it opened. In an era when gamblers still operated in Las Vegas, a distinct and captivating quality infused every guest experience. John embodied that spirit at Treasure Island, driving the project to an incredible 31% ROI—what a tremendous success. Designing a building for a gambler carries a unique set of criteria, blending creativity and intuition to craft spaces that tell the stories of real-life casino experiences. John’s legacy will always be a part of that extraordinary narrative. Rest in peace, John. I’m sure some great games await you with the legends of Las Vegas. #steelmanpartners #lasvegas #lasvegaslife #lasvegasbusiness #poker #Casino #GamblingsTwitter
Finding the words for a tribute to someone as remarkable as Elaine Wynn is difficult. She embodied greatness in every sense. Alongside her husband, Steve Wynn, she helped transform Las Vegas, giving rise to an entire city that continues to captivate the world. Elaine was not only a visionary who played an integral role in shaping the fantasy that is Las Vegas but also a compassionate philanthropist, a gifted artist, and a cherished friend to countless individuals. Her impact reached far beyond the industry she helped build. Elaine is a staunch supporter of the arts, theatre, education, and numerous charitable causes. Las Vegas owes much of its soul to her generosity and dedication. Without her, the city—and indeed, the world—would be an entirely different place. When people pass on, we often reflect on their incredible lives. In Elaine’s case, the entire city of Las Vegas feels the weight of her loss. Her presence was a force that touched so many, and her absence will be profoundly felt. Rest in peace, Elaine. You will forever be missed. May your legacy continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know you. Godspeed #lasvegas #lasvegaslife #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegasarts #lasvegastheatre
Over the past few evenings, I have had the pleasure of watching the Netflix documentary Mr. McMahon's WWE. It tells the incredible story of Vince McMahon and the sensational empire he built, but it also reveals the harsh reality he left behind. In 2001, we designed the WWF casino on the site where Allegiant Stadium now stands. Vince McMahon and his remarkable team visited our office five times throughout the design process. The project was truly one-of-a-kind. Inspired by the wrestlers' muscular physiques, it had a bold, in-your-face attitude that matched the essence of the WWE. The design featured a central Ring Bar and a buffet called "Armageddon," among other distinctive attractions. It was a building that oozed attitude and spectacle. Las Vegas has long been a hub for visionary entrepreneurs eager to invest in bold and unique ideas. Reflecting on this design, I'm happy the project was ultimately "counted out." It also serves as a reminder of the bigger-than-life dreams and designs that make Las Vegas a special place, which can also be timed out, as this one would have been. #steelmanpartners #architecture #netflix #WWE #UFC #lasvegas #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegaslife
I had the privilege of doing two segments on Nevada Newsmakers with the renowned Sam Shad, and I must say, it was an absolute blast. Sam is such a great host, and we had a lot of fun diving deep into two of my greatest passions: Las Vegas and resort casino design. We explored the unique qualities that make Las Vegas such an extraordinary place, from its vibrant culture to the innovative architecture that continues to define the city. It was a real honor to talk about how Las Vegas’ influence in casino design has rippled worldwide, shaping how resorts are built and experienced globally. The opportunity to share my insights on such a prestigious platform was incredible, and it reinforced how truly special both Las Vegas and Sam Shad are. Thank you to Sam and the entire team for such an enriching experience!" #steelmanpartners #architecture #interiordesign #lasvegas #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegaslife

We were honored that Trump chose Circa a building we designed between 2016 and 2020. Forty years ago, Donald Trump sought me to be his in-house architect when he took over Harrah's and transformed it into Trump Plaza. I remember the meetings vividly—one of our conversations centered around the new signage for the building. With each sketch, Trump wanted the sign to be more prominent, aiming for the largest one in Atlantic City. At the time, he had poached many of Steve Wynn's Atlantic City team, including Steve Hyde (RIP) and Gustav Mauler. I was recommended for the role by Henry Convrsano (RIP), who had just secured the commission to redesign the interiors in Trump Style. Ultimately, I turned down the offer, as I was already working for the most excellent casino developer of the time, Steve Wynn, and the world's top casino architect, Joel Bergman (RIP). I often wonder how different my life might have been. I could have assisted in building Trump's casino empire or perhaps ended up being part of his "You're Fired!" world—or even as the architect of the Capitol building. President Trump now faces the monumental task of recreating America, and we all hope he approaches it with the same strength and passion he demonstrated in his career. #steelmanpartners #architecture #trump #atlanticcity #lasvegas #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegaslife
President Trump visited the vibrant Circa Resort in Las Vegas, where Derek Stevens' visionary leadership has revitalized Downtown Las Vegas. Though smaller, this project marks a turning point as Downtown Resorts now rivals the Strip with dynamic entertainment offerings. Similarly, President Trump faces the task of revitalizing America and fostering innovation to ensure its competitiveness on the global stage #steelmanpartners #architecture #trump #lasvegas #lasvegasbusiness #lasvegaslife.
We designed a one-of-a-kind toll booth for a private freeway in Asia based on a unique vision from the owner. The owner requested that the toll plaza have the visual appeal of a grand casino entrance, transforming a mundane experience into something exciting and memorable. Toll roads, while popular and highly profitable, often pass through landscapes that can be visually underwhelming. By infusing the toll plaza with an interesting, fun design, we aimed to spark curiosity and anticipation among drivers. The design encourages drivers to imagine what lies beyond the toll plaza, enhancing their journey with excitement and intrigue. #steelmanpartners #architecture #tollroad #casino #lightingdesign #art
