I tend to like other Chrissies, sometimes get along with Chrissys (after some wariness), and not vibe well with Christies/Christys whatsoever 😂 Christines/Christinas on a case-by-case basis
Weird confession: I feel an automatic kinship with most people named Emily. I'm completely biased, of course, but I *do* feel like most Emilys are amazing.
Do other people feel like that about their names? Just Emilys? Tell me.
2020: Can I go running?
2021: My brother is a fully vaxxed Scorpio who only lies and my roommate is an unvaccinated INTJ who only tells the truth; how do we attend a 124-person outdoor wedding across a river with a fox, a chicken, and a sack of grain, and only one mask?
2/2 These are the times I particularly love what I do & know it’s more meaningful (to me) than anything I’ve done in the academic research world. Grateful for a chance to do this work!
1/2 This week I taught a riding lesson to an adult who enjoyed some peace around horses after a hard year of working w/ AstraZeneca on their COVID vaccine, & another to a teen with ADHD whose mom said she only hears her daughter laugh when she’s at the barn for her lessons.
Despite a looming fourth wave of COVID-19 in the United States, many people are still refusing vaccinations. “It’s like riding a motorcycle without a helmet.“ one critical-care physician said. “The wake-up call always comes too late.” https://t.co/WaFX4PqlKD
The right-wing is only part of the reason you're exhausted.
Stick with me here.
The right-wing has to create an endless cycle of crises because they have no other way to 'govern.' They have to keep their supporters scared and you outraged . . .

Fifth grade, school district runoffs, "animism" - because the person reading the word pronounced it "aminism" the first time and threw me off and I will NEVER FORGET THIS
I have been thinking a lot about what we, as a society, can do to reduce the probability of future pandemics & their severity when they do occur. What I've stumbled upon is a recognition that we teach our children an incomplete picture of infectious diseases 1/n
Scientists, and the very ideals of science, are under attack on many fronts. This is dangerous and shortsighted. So I was dismayed to hear Jon Stewart add to the "questioning" when he went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week. My thoughts here.

This little rider got to trot for the first time last night. She was a little nervous, but did great. Told her mom after that she felt ok trying bc “I felt safe because I was with Chrissie.”
Oh my heart. Here’s to hoping all my students (& horses) always feel safe with me. 💕
