"Think of our clinics & hospitals as outposts of God's kingdom because... all healing is attributable to God."
I recently spoke with Dr. Mark Topazian on why a biblical view of health is the ultimate antidote to medical burnout.

Is healthcare burnout just about workload, or a loss of meaning?
I sat down with Dr. Mark Topazian to discuss why hospitals aren't spiritually neutral spaces, and how simple habits can recover a clinician's purpose.

"Journalism now perpetuates the dis/mis/mal-information of social media."

When journalists rely on secret recordings and unverified sources, the institutional decay is obvious. But Christ followers are called to push against the brokenness of our culture.

The annual Pentecost tradition (today!) at Rome's Pantheon is a moment of extraordinary beauty.
It occurs every year on the seventh Sunday after Easter. At noon, after the Holy Mass, thousands of rose petals are dropped through the oculus of the mighty dome.
As the petals fall, a choir sings "Veni Sancte Spiritus," known as the Golden Sequence, a masterpiece of sacred Latin poetry.
This is to celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Virgin Mary and the Apostles.
The rose petal ritual likely dates back to 607 AD when the pagan temple became a Christian church.

2.2 million views is a heck of a lot more than the ~30 students in her class.
What the teacher meant for bad, God used for good. Bravo to this brave girl!
"On the one hand I doubt Mrs. Goggins knew the impression she was making. As I age myself, I think she knew exactly what she was doing."

I’ve been crafting this essay for @commentmag for some time now, & while critical of the FnW movement, I hope it is also constructive.

Published today on @mereorthodoxy on Ida B Wells.
"There are moments when you realize the tradition you love is larger than the version you inherited. Ida B. Wells, a Presby, has recently done that for me, & her faithful witness deepens how I live."

This was the last thing @TimKellerNYC ever said to Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
In God’s providence, it was scheduled to be shared with Redeemer congregants on May 19—the day he died (three years ago today).
We usually think of Christian discipleship in terms of Bible studies and mission trips. For me, it started on a piano bench with an octogenarian named Mrs. Goggins and a crisp one dollar bill.

When we equate speech with violence, we don't just threaten the First Amendment. We insult actual victims of violent crimes.
