At EBHS today, I am presenting this paper on why the fur trade dominated in Canada for so long. The answer is simple: wars made fur the only viable industry. Other industries needed peace to thrive.

@orvn Just double checked, it's actually just an error. It's a branch in Châteauguay (near Montreal), but it got coded as the Châteauguay River (in Northern Quebec, near Labrador)

@prinsessmarthe@tonyannett That's kinda the point. Inflation/deflation is now heavily influenced by policymakers, who work hard to prevent all deflation, even the good, productivity-driven kind. There's now a lot of evidence suggesting they should stop doing this
