Originally I was shocked, but upon reflection I think it's a shrewd business move. Yes we invested a lot in both those young players, but at the end of the day matching them would have created cap issues that could impact re-signing #29.

Broberg was our 5/6 defensemen, which isn't a hard gap to fill. Sure he had potential, but I consider this commitment to re-sign Bouchard for years to come. Holloway also had flashes of brilliance, but there are multiple options that can bounce between the second and third line.
