Central Sleep Apnea is a breathing disorder that causes your body to decrease or stop the effort of breathing during sleep. This occurs in an off-and-on cycle. It is a result of a problem in the brain or heart.
Restless legs syndrome (RLS) involves a strong urge to move the legs when you are resting or sitting still. You may also have a creepycrawly, tugging, itchy or tingly sensation in your legs.
During and after long breaks from school, kids seem to want to stay up later. This can lead to difficulties transitioning back into their normal pattern of waking up for school. The NSF encourages parents and kids to put healthy sleep on the list of back-to-school necessities.
One of the most common causes of Obstructive Sleep Apnea is enlarged tonsils and adenoids in the upper airway. Large adenoids may block the nasal passages and make breathing through the nose difficult or impossible. If you are experiencing these symptoms, seek care from your PCP.
