๐ Since ChatGPTโs late-2022 launch, US CS grads have faced tougher job placement. Japan seems different with high employment rates, but students often apply to companies, not roles, and may be assigned wherever the company needs (even outside their degree field ๐ข).
Great to be back at #JJUGCCC โ๐ฏ๐ต
@steveonjava and I spoke about AI First Programming and rethinking CS education through our AI First book series with @Apress.
๐ I also shared US data on CS grads struggling after ChatGPT, while Japanโs hiring picture seems very different.
I peeked in on Daniel Oh's talk and the room was packed full beyond belief! This might be a result of mentioning him as a great speaker in the keynote yesterday. ๐
Keynoted at #GIDS India with @steveonjava amazing, engaged dev community ๐ฎ๐ณ. Great feedback on our AI-first โprompt, learn, growโ approach. Thanks @MichaelCarducci for the fantastic photos!
My @Devoxx interviews with @Stephan007 who talked about his conference AI transcription and the @Devoxx4Kids organizers including @danieldeluca who has been running it from the beginning and @EddyVos_EVCS and @KoTurk77 from the Netherlands chapter. ๐ง๐ป๐

It was great speaking at Open Source Summit Japan! At first I wasn't sure how my first lightning talk would go, but actually it had more impact than a regular session. Many people reached out to me with compliments. I hope I inspired parents to try fun technology with their kids.
Giving the opening keynote at #Devoxx Belgium was a huge honor and the largest audience I have spoken. ๐คIt was amazing to come to the conference that started @Devoxx4Kids and to stand on stage with @Stephan007 and talk about how parents can raise young coders.๐พ๐ฉโ๐ป
We had a blast at JCrete4Kids yesterday. I taught the Phippy's AI Friend๐ฆ๐คworkshop- kids loved coloring and training AI. Also a Scratch๐บ workshop by Robin.
๐Thank you John Kostaras for translating, the volunteers, and @heinzkabutz for running JCrete & supporting JCrete4Kids
I just got my keynote accepted at #Devoxx Belgium! I have been teaching workshops for @Devoxx4Kids since I was 13, excited to come to the conference that started this. Join me to learn how to get your kids (and girls) excited about tech๐พ ๐ฉโ๐ป https://t.co/KTiRA0GVTH @Stephan007
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to speak at @WeAreDevs Berlin ๐ฉ๐ช last week. I was suprised how many eager developers came to learn about how they can introduce technology to their kids! I also had a book signing for my Raising Young Coders book.
๐๏ธ It was great speaking with @RafaDelNero about my new Raising Young Coders book with @Apress. ๐ This was the longest deep dive conversation I have ever done (almost 2 hours!) and I hope my teaching advice on kids and tech reaches many Java developers โ๐พ
Want to make a difference in tech beyond coding? @cassandraonjava shows how she built her career by teaching children programming. Her path from workshop instructor to author can inspire your next career move! #JavaCareer#TechEducation
