@manishsinhav@MattLaneWrites Because it isn't true. Men and women write about their experiences in the same way, the only difference is the male PoV is seen as the human experience and the female PoV is other.
@estherzelda0514 I am currently reading about the history of beans and whenever you say you're a reader to men they will say "WHAT MINOTAUR PORN ARE YOU READING"
@ConradBastable Maybe I'm being a doomer, but it just feels like we are moving to a more illiterate society and reading as a pastime is slowly dying out.
I don't think it's reversible when ppl spend so much of the their spare time on their phones which also destroys attention spans.
@lampwright4@Mr_Boffin Outside of something very good, like Austen, I have never had an interest in romance. I think the automatic assumption that all girls/women want to read it is odd.
@hbolton I've been saying all day it took from the 1960's to a few years ago for kids books to go from male dominated to female dominated.

@ChrisOhnimus@2ProbablyNever Men like saying that men are interested in things and women are interested in people when it paints men in a good light, but not when someone points out this is why girls like fictional stories and boys like tech.
I have never read currently published books, so I am very baffled at the "if something wasn't straight from the printer there's nothing for me" you can still buy 5 year old books in Barnes & Noble? What's wrong with those books? If they sell well they'd release more.
@SirEdvin It's because men have been granted full humanity and seen as the default of humanity for all of history, whereas women are other, the sex class.
@AndrewWittstadt The key part they're missing is that while most readers are women, most women don't read.
The publishing industry is desperately catering to romance readers since that's the only thing keeping the lights on.
