When a Kenyan company is looking for a CEO, the one mandatory minimum requirement is MASTERS DEGREE or higher! This has forced many Kenyans to acquire Masters Degrees even when they don’t know what Thesis they wrote as it was sub-contracted to their Professors.

And therein lies the tragedy. With all the Degrees, Kenyan companies have been unable to dig themselves out of holes.

In the US, Apple has just appointed John Ternus has its CEO. Ternus has only one Degree. Apple is valued at us$5Trillion … bigger than the entire GDP of Africa.

Of US 500 biggest companies, 188 don’t have any university degree.

We have put too much premium on Masters Degrees even instead of cognitive intelligence. We end up with charlatans as Ministers, PSes, CEOs & Presidential Advisors!

I encountered these traders on City Hall Way outside KICC. They were very orderly, only blowing their whistles and vuvuzela on their way towards Parliament Road. Not chaotic at all, not disorderly or disruptive in any way.

And then the police decided to lob teargas at them. Unprovoked, without any attempt at even controlling and/or guiding them.

Police action elicited pandemonium even to the unaffected non-protesters.

Kenyans have been made to believe legal fees are high! They need to see the legal fees in England, Tanzania or US.

Prince Harry sued Daily Mail for breach of privacy & lost. The High Court there has ordered him to pay legal costs of uk£9.5m (Kshs. 1.6 Billion).

In Kenya, the Courts will award costs for tortious actions at less than Kshs. 300,000/= ….

A country is only civilized on how it treats its teachers, doctors, lawyers & police.

Our Cabinet Ministers & Regulatory Bodies have allowed to be imported to Kenya:

Contaminated Maize & Sugar
Cooking oil unfit for human consumption
Adulterated motor vehicle fuel
Expired medicine

They have allowed buildings & roads to be constructed without quality control & in violation of building & planning codes.

Government officials will always defend incompetence, professional negligence & public theft out of political fealty or kickbacks! It is rare when a Government official stands up for the people. What Water Minister Eric Mugaa did in Homa Bay is a Big Shot across the bow for public integrity.

There is hope after all!

When Meles Zenawi became Prime Minister of Ethiopia in 1995, Ethiopia had been in existence for over 3,000 Years, most of it under oppressive feudal monarchy. This was ended in 1974 by a Communist take-over that made Ethiopia a failed & famine stricken state. In coming to office, Zenawi didn’t blame Ethiopia’s past leaders. In less than four years, he laid a firm foundation that transformed Ethiopia forever. We were richer than Ethiopia for many years. Ethiopia overtook us & is set to be amongst TOP TWENTY BIGGEST ECONOMIES in the world.

We love Kenya but we have been unable ti fix our sh*t! Kenya’s existence as a nation-state is less than 100 Years & thus our problems ought to be easier to fix. How is it that Zenawi was able to fix 3,000 Years old problems in four years & we can’t fix 60 years problems?

If our leaders loved Kenya as Zenawi & now Abiy love Ethiopia, we will be far. But our leaders love themselves more than Kenya.

Dear Good People Of Homa Bay

Today, your youth were paid to block young political leader Sifuna from peaceably entering Homa Bay town. In so blocking him, the world was exposed to your roads that resembled those of Yemen. Immediately, you were led by your leaders to blame President Uhuru Kenyatta for your state of roads. Blaming President Uhuru is intellectual laziness.

Since independence in 1963, Homa Bay unlike the rest of Luo Nyanza has always been with the Government of the day. Whilst rest of Luo was against President Jomo Kenyatta, Tom Mboya from Homa Bay was our first Economy Minister that came up with our development policy still in use until today. For entirety of President Daniel Arap Moi rule, Homa Bay provided KANU with its powerful leaders. History therefore shows that Homa Bay stood out in Luo Nyanza as it always produced powerful Ministers in every regime. Now we have Mbadi as our Finance Minister!

2010 Constitution took away national development from sole control of the President to Parliament. Budgetary allocation, financial appropriations & development projects are now the exclusive role of MPs. If you have no development in your County, blame your MP. Your MP can only exonerate himself by showing Hansard Report to his contribution during the BUDGET PROCESS.

Finally, since 2012, all Counties receive Billions for own development. Since 2012, Homa Bay has received over Kshs. 140Billion. Can it be seen on the ground? Homa Bay cannot blame any President for its problems. They should look at the mirror & ask themselves why it has always had powerful Ministers yet no development.

2027 gives Homa Bay another chance to elect leaders that serve the people & not themselves. Maybe a start will be electing Raymond Omolo as your Governor. Raymond has proven himself. Give him a chance. He may turn Homa Bay from Yemen to Little Monaco or Montego Bay.

Don’t blame others. Fix your leadership.

RESOLVE BODA BODA MENACE NOW

Overpass bridges, Bypasses & Acceleration lanes on highways were meant to ease motor vehicle jams by allowing faster cars to use them …. But now Boda Boda who have no respect for traffic laws & are terrorists have joined these roads. Boda Boda are supposed to use the outside lane. But you see them riding in the middle of accelerating lane at 40KPH! I have seen them even using the overpasses! MADNESS! It can’t be right in any sense that a vehicle that pays insurance over ten times the price of a boda boda have to compete for space with them in the road then risk your car being burnt when the boda boda creatively causes an accident! In all civilized countries, boda boda are banned from CBD … And where they are allowed, they have dedicated lines on the outside of the main road. It is time we fix Boda Boda issue before they mutate into real terrorists on our highways. It is not condescending but it is what we need to do if we aspire to be Singapore! If we can’t fix Boda Boda issue, how can we fix the Bigger Issues!
