So pleased today to have been able to present my dissertation findings at @DerbyUni today as part of #HPSCresearch2022 it was a fantastic day with lots of interesting talks and a great opportunity and experience to be able to discuss my research. Well done to everyone involved
Something of a thrill to see 2 years of work presented by @Prof_AmyBrown at the @APPGIFI today.
If milk banking already saves millions in #NHS costs by ⬇️NEC risk and severity, what could be achieved if embedded within postnatal support services as a bridge to breastfeeding?
Across Britain, babies and toddlers are missing out on vital support. I’m joining @UNICEF_UK’s campaign calling on the government to deliver a Baby and Toddler Guarantee, because #EarlyMomentsMatter. Please sign the petition here > https://t.co/NhtzALS3PQ
I recommend watching this if you’re a healthcare professional (and even if you’re not actually!) really makes you think about how you might be being influenced by marketing without knowing it, and what you might be saying to vulnerable families as a result
In the UK it is not possible to find out who pays a doctor whether you're being treated directly or watching them on TV. @rebeccacoombes from @bmj_latest making a clear call in this WHO webinar that the @gmcuk should hold a central register of interests. #endexploitativemarket
❤️ Small changes in a workplace can make the world of difference in supporting breastfeeding ❤️ Pleased to see that staff at Marvel/Disney are being so supportive
It’s not easy being a working Mama! Genius #christinewada designed Sylvie’s costume & added concealed zippers so I could pump easily & nurse my baby between takes. Little (big) things like this that made it possible for me to do my job & be a parent. I’m forever grateful 💖
#happyInternationalNursesDay to all the wonderful nurses I know, have met, have been taught by, looked after, and those I will never meet - you all do an amazing job in difficult circumstances without you all the NHS would crumble
Supposed to be attending 3 conferences today 😂 luckily 2 are being recorded but need to be watched in the next 24hrs.
Why has everywhere chosen today???
Theo: mummy what day is it?
Me: Monday
Husband: and international women’s day!
Theo: what’s that?
Me: once a year the works celebrates that women do amazing things and don’t get paid for it.
Theo: that’s not fair.
Not sweetie, it isn’t.
@cisco664uk@xandvt Yes! Learning how to fail and dealing with failure in a positive way is so important and not focussed on enough. I’ve seen so many people fail something and then give up completely because they can’t cope with not being perfect, especially those who got top marks in school
@xandvt I was told I was terrible at biology early on so never bothered to pursue it in school. I’ve since gone on to do an MSc in Environmental Archaeology & Paleoenvironments (fair bit of biology there 😆) & now doing an MSc in Nursing! Some things take time & encouragement/motivation
I would LOVE this message to be more widespread. Why should only breastfeeding babies get skin time? Great for oxytocin, microbiome-sharing and connection. #ibclc
...Please use the @NBHelpline@BfN_UK@AssocBfMothers@LLLGB for support. Not a company that will subtly try to sell you things at every possible chance whilst pretending to be your friend.
Tommee Tippee’s latest campaign #thebooblife concerns me. Yes families should be able to feed however they want and feel comfortable discussing their choices (and these choices should be made from unbiased info) but TT are a business out to make money, therefore inherently biased
...they are not paid by companies to promote ‘things’ (& if they are report them!) but should provide unbiased info & work with families to do choose the path that’s right for them & support them when those plans might change...
If you have questions about feeding (breast, formula, expressed, mixed, bottles, cup, syringe, SNS, increasing milk supply, decreasing it, relactation, anything you could possibly think of!) find and speak to your local breastfeeding support group, health visitors & midwives...
