I am reminded of the time someone rudely asked why I didn't put out a birthday greetings post on May 1.
Interestingly, their tweet reached me when I happened to be seated beside the birthday boy at a private dinner! (That's right; it was because I didn't need to, Sherlock.)
I'd ignore such rude questions or comments, except that I feel the need, from time to time, to rein in those who disregard my pinned post.
So, if you follow me for my birth order rather than my distinct brand of brain farts, please note:
I am not on social media to quench your thirst for juice on someone. If you'll let me mind my own business, I won't ask you to mind yours.
I find it odd that people would expect me to post publicly, for their gratuitous pleasure, about love or support of the kind, within family, that a sensible person would expect to see shared privately.
As someone who thinks about relationships a lot, given my work as a matchmaker, I'd even ask you to worry more about overt, public displays of love and affection, especially among couples.
Those may well be performative, self-serving, or overcompensating for some deep cracks.
That said, I reserve the right, like anyone else online, to post awayโor not!โas I please, to go ga ga or stay quiet as I see fit.
Don't like what you see, or don't see? Move on!
Tempted to needle me? Be prepared to get blocked. (I'm not as bighearted or as forgiving as others in my family!)
