📢 Proposed Bylaw to Ban On-Street Soup Runs – Our Concerns
Tonight, as Muslim Sisters of Éire (MSOE) completed our weekly food distribution on O’Connell Street, we were informed of a proposed bylaw by Dublin City Council to ban on-street soup runs.
Muslim Sisters of Éire is a registered charity and HSE-approved soup run that has been operating for over eight years. Each week, we provide meals, sleeping bags, and essential supplies to over 300 individuals – including rough sleepers, families in emergency accommodation, and vulnerable members of our community.
This proposed bylaw, if passed, raises serious concerns for the hundreds of people across Dublin who rely on soup runs every night – not just ours. Many depend on these services during late hours when no other supports are open.
Tonight, we were asked heartbreaking questions:
"Where will we go when we need food at night?"
"What will happen if we can’t get a sleeping bag or shelter?"
These are not isolated cases – the demand we witness is growing. For many, the presence of soup runs provides not just food, but comfort and safety.
We understand that long-term solutions are needed to address homelessness and food insecurity, but until those solutions exist, these services remain critical to the survival and wellbeing of so many.
As this bylaw moves forward, we are deeply concerned about the devastating impact it could have on those who rely on us – and others – every night.

No one should go hungry. No one should feel abandoned.

O'Brien is the perfect example of how "the economist" functions as a kind of inverted priest class for modern governments. Fundamentally his job is to explain with a straight face that some lines on a graph mean that it is necessary, prudent in fact, that certain people must die.
i’m home alone rn using the word ontological to describe stuff and i’m not even doing it right im just fuckin using it to describe fucking whatever and none of you can correct me because none of you are here rn
