@JessicaCalarco I do this as well, but vary when in class they do them. In my interdisciplinary class focused on literature of walking, I had them do a 3-minute silly walk after watching Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks and had them write about the experience. (More)
@JessicaCalarco Huh. One set of my grandparents were incapacitated at 60 when I was two. They were also 90 minutes away. The other set was 30 minutes away and also incapacitated. The assortment of incapacitation would have included child abuse and neglect. Awesome plan for ruining children
@acweyand@JessicaCalarco And as a child whose parents were violent to each other and their children—and researches the effects of a violent childhood on education. I agree. Only about 50% of children in foster care graduate from high school. That doesn’t count those not deemed “abused”.
Neighbor shooting off repeated—and loud — fireworks last night as we were going to bed. “I am free to do this” he said. “Yes” I said. “You are also free not to disturb your neighbors at bedtime .” I wonder what happens tonight when it’s hot? (I suspect he isn’t a fan of heat.)
