@Leah100800152 I completely agree with you. It’s important to voice your opinions but be mindful about who’s reading your posts. Setting boundaries about what you allow yourself to post will positively reflect your image.
@Juliahall31 These three points have been so helpful. It’s allowed me to think more thoughtfully about what I post and who I interact with, to build a positive reputation.
Q3 I will involve myself with activist pages on social media, and use my platform to engage and promote organizations I believe in. My learning applies to my life by changing the way I post and interact with others online. I’m more conscious of my online identity. 14.2 #GNED1411
Q2: The three most useful things I’ve learned in social media and society include online identity management, social media tools and social media + activism/advocacy. #GNED1411 14.2 q2
Q1: The most surprising thing I learned about social media is the evolution. I didn’t know at first when it was developed and split into so many different sites and systems. I looked at it more surface level, but now my view has changed for the better. #GNED1411 14.2 q1
I think social media will only be evolving and changing more in the future. There may be more platforms and ways to connect with others. Another trend id add is another version of TikTok that may be even more famous, and allow people to get paid. #GNED1411 14.1
My thoughts about social media use in the classroom are mixed. I think there should be set boundaries about what is allowed and what isn’t, if used inappropriately this can lead to a major distraction. Used in moderation can be beneficial to students. #GNED1411 13.3
To enhance my learning, I think Facebook would help. This can be for video examples, or a platform to create a classroom group for questions and help. #GNED1411 13.2
@Deshna0611 I use YouTube all the time, if I wanna learn how to do something or learn about something that I don’t have much info on, I’ll search it on YouTube. It’s been very helpful and educational for me.
I’ve used social media for educational purposes more than I would’ve imagined. It’s been used for viewing blogs, how-to’s on YouTube to help me with something and videos about history and technology. I learn something new everyday. #GNED1411 13.1
@Juliahall31 It also provides and builds community for other activists and people who want to help but don’t know where to start. It’s a great opportunity for resources
@AmandaSch1411 I love Greta thunberg and follow her on my personal social media pages. She’s such a role model for others and has really opened my eyes to things that I’ve never thought about.
@nyclass uses social media often and doesn’t shy away from speaking about their goals and thoughts. They are an advocacy group that is committed to ending carriage horse abuse and gaining legal protection. I’ve always felt strong about animal rights. #GNED1411 12.1
I think social media is extremely effective at supporting activism. This allows for a platform to build a community including people all around the world. Links to resources, funds, videos can be supported by millions. I’ve been moved to support blm, LGBTQ+ and more #GNED1411 12.2
I think the long term impact social media will have on the economy is very pertinent. It has allowed for creation of new jobs, democratization of info and changing how we communicate business, how it’s governed and how we live in society. #GNED1411 11.2
