@MartinSLewis
Any chance of setting up a not-for-profit car parking charge company?
Been caught out by parkingeye at 2 hospitals accompanying a blue badge holder. Appealing as information nearby wasn't clear. Charges are extortionate and appeals process exhausting for so many!
Also a change recommendations for those pregnant & at high risk
&'[no] need to avoid pregnancy after vaccination, pregnant & breastfeeding women may be offered vaccination with either vaccine following consideration of the womanβs clinical need for immunisation against COVID-19'
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation has recommended initially prioritising the first doses of #COVID19 vaccine for as many people as possible on its priority list.
The four UK Chief Medical Officers agree with this recommendation.

#CovidVaccine can be a source of hope for many around the world
Thanks to @WHO & those working to make sure people in as many countries as possible can have hope
& as developments of #COVID19 variants show- protecting others in the world also protects us
2 care homes done in a day, 90 doses from a box of 75 thanks to the 6th dose. 180 people vaccinated over 2 care homes, whilst running normal GP surgery too! #primarycare#COVIDVaccination
This is Sarah Gilbert who oversaw the team who did the actual work in creating the Oxford vaccine. This is the woman who deserves credit today and our eternal gratitude. Not politicians in white coats. #COVID19
There is a path between blind optimism & cynical fatalism. We all together determine the future of this pandemic. Our actions & little choices matter. This virus needs to move during the infectious phase from one host to another. Just remember that to avoid getting infected.
Difficult political decisions with schools
But this goverment guidance needs to be clear and timely
& support for schools, teachers (who are working so hard) & families needed
& with current #coronavirus infections and increases, time and options are becoming limited
Our team has been working on COVID-19 and schools since the Spring. Anyone who tells you there are simple solutions is not seeing the full picture esp given the new variant. More scientific input on schools later this week.
Over 500,000 people testing positive #coronavirus in the past 14 days
rates still increasing
So many more people suffering #COVID19
So many more lost loved ones
& people living with loss &long covid
#actquicklyandactnow on #Corona
piecemeal & confusing changes are not enough
Van Tam also said today that Xmas mixing impact yet to bit NHS and that this was extremely worrying. So why they did let it happen? And why are still doing incremental measures when clear spreading *everywhere*?! See you next week when they try again with next incremental policy.
@MattHancock failure to limplement lockdown measures and keep children and families sage by closing schools will also 'paralyse the country..wreck our economy'
It's not too still late - 'act quickly and act now' to save lives from #COVID19
'We believe a delay and tentative decision making will result in the deaths of tens of thousands more people.'
Independent SAGE chair Sir David King explains why the committee is calling for England to go into a full national lockdown and how long is should last for.
more evidence support for the greater transmissibility of the new strain of covid (B117). The 2nd tweet says that B117 increased in 200/246 local authorities in England *during* lockdown while other strains reduced.
Lockdown did reduce the spread of #newvariant#coronavirus
..in some areas R got down to 1 -meaning the number of people getting infected was reducing. But not in all areas.
Lockdown did help- but stronger measures than that are needed.
Otherwise infections will keep growing
Did the new SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.7 lineage spread during the English national lockdown? Rising numbers and estimated higher R value suggest so. Together with our colleagues from COG-UK we took a closer look. >> https://t.co/YfCl4VUsrK
MK Lighthouse lab @Biocentre_UK testing data showing a large increase in positive rate over the lest few days. New variant B117 stabilizing at ~80% of all new positives.
Opportunity for young men (aged 18-25) to share their experiences of #domesticviolence - either as survivors or instigators of abuse. New study will explore the impacts of family & relationship violence on #youngpeople's wellbeing & future relationships.

Amended from previous table after spotting error in 60-65 year old calculations.
For most of healthy younger folk at lower risk, the vaccine will have been administered to millions before we receive it.
For older, sheilding and very high risk groups it could be lifesaving
Where are you in the UK #Pfizervaccine queue of 20 million people?

Assuming 100% uptake, of course. Other vaccines for #COVID19 are (hopefully soon!)available...
Pretty excited about the Moderna vaccine. No one who got Moderna's vaccine in the trial developed severe COVID-19 (!). Whenever it's my turn in the queue, will be rolling up my sleeves. https://t.co/P3upwVCn82
