Head of Novel Therapeutics, Dementia Research Centre, UCL; Chair NIHR dementia Translational Research Collaboration; Director NIHR UK Dementia Trials Network
I'm honoured to lead this exciting UK initiative to accelerate therapies in dementia, building a world class early phase trials network, expanding UK's incredible research expertise, improving access to drug trials for all patients #UCLH; #UCL; #trials#ARUK; #Alzheimers; #NIHR
We present results of the first trial of a TREM2 agonist in AD. This was a negative trial; nevertheless an important result in understanding the mechanism of action; it also shows ARIA can occur without removal of amyloid, informing theory on cause of ARIA.https://t.co/uHzEZrkvjr
Really enjoyed writing this paper with amazing leaders in AD treatments and biomarkers - how we need more than just anti-amyloid therapies; how developing tau therapies and biomarkers will shape treatment options as well as the patient pathway

A couple of days of neuroscience excellence at the 8th @CamNeuro Symposium: Interventions & Recovery.
So many great talks, loads of representation from our lab showcasing what everyone has been up to, & insightful public panel discussion on dementia!

pleasure to be on #newsnight last night with @scott.mitchell3 remembering his fabulous wife, Barbara Windsor #dementia goals programme and urgent need to modernise dementia services to deliver disease changing treatments - the challenge is great but cannot wait #implementation
🔬Prof Cath Mummery (@cathmummery) chaired a session at #AAIC25 today discussing what a clinician may find important compared to patients. An important topic for making trial outcomes matter to people living with Alzheimer’s
At @UniofOxford it's time for the staff survey. Here's my answer to: "What is the main thing the University could do to help you to progress your career?"
Please RT and respond similarly to the survey if you agree. It's the only way to get our points across!
Reminded how far things have moved in 3 years - two DMTs, blood biomarkers, innovation in clinical trials but just the beginning and need to push forwards
Why academia is sleepwalking into self-destruction. My editorial @Brain1878 If you agree with the sentiments please RT. It's important for all our sakes to stop the madness

What a smashing way to celebrate #IWD2025! In just one week, the DRC at @UCLIoN had not 1️⃣ but 2️⃣ inaugural lectures from new female professors @JBar_UK & @cathmummery 💪🎉
Testament to their strength, talent & leadership. Onwards & upwards! 🚀 @UCLBrainScience
Our inRAD group developed international consensus on what a common minimum dataset for a real world registry in dementia should look like. Critical to understand/record treatment effects in a standardised way, and develop opportunities to work globally.
