4 days out from my life-changing surgery, @Aetna has denied the appeal for my brain surgery.
to be clear, when i signed up to aetna months ago, the coordinator had confirmed they would cover this surgery. then, a week ago, they said the surgery was too experimental/elective and denied coverage. we appealed. that appeal was just denied today.
now, my neurosurgeon is trying to do a peer-to-peer consult with someone at aetna to explain why i need it so we don’t lose the surgery date on monday morning. aetna is not being responsive.
this is sadistic and a violation of basic trust. please spread this so they can’t ignore it. they may not care if i live or die but people should know just what kind of company they’re dealing with. and please pray they are able to have a peer-to-peer consult with my neurosurgeon and have a change of heart.
“If you don’t work, you don’t eat.”
As some “christians” cheer at the thought of people losing food assistance, it’s wild how often they quote the verse above to justify it — usually without understanding what Paul was actually talking about.
It’s soooooo lame:

So….a diagnosis of “Vitamin D deficiency” does NOT cover blood work ordered to check my vit D level?
Not to mention my other diagnoses of Celiac dis & Osteopenia & taking an estrogen blocker for breast CA (all of which warrant vit D monitoring)
Make it make sense
@ThePOTSPostman Same- I was walking 30 miles/week- felt amazing. HR only occasionally getting above 100 at fast pace. Then almost overnight couldn’t take a shower without HR in 120’s. Almost every single doctor said “you should try to exercise regularly” 😬
Finally dx with MECFS
@beherleader So to try to stop objectifying women you don’t know, objectify your wife instead.
That’s quite a low view of women you have.
It’s also a low view of men.
@oliviakrolczyk_ Dtr went to uni on 2 scholarships, joined a wonderful sorority, worked, graduated w honors as a nurse (no debt). Works on pediatric hema/oncology floor. 2 of her sorority sisters will be her maids of honor nxt month when she marries a lovely man she met at uni.
Cute. Love it.🎓
@TheFoxMatriarch I took my dtr to the doctor - no fever. I told him “she has Strep- I can smell it.” He said nah, but he humored me and did a rapid Strep test. Did she have it? Yes she did.
@taraji_bsw@allie__voss I’m all for nurturing the small things, being kind to one another, being thoughtful, caring for each other. But to be a team- both spouses have to be functioning as adults. Otherwise it becomes a parent/child dynamic.
@taraji_bsw@allie__voss Not only does she have to “feed him”- she has to do that before she reminds him to take care of ongoing responsibilities. That is different than an occasional appointment. She is in the mom role not the wife role.
