Here's the thing about the alleged trade talks between the #Brewers and #Mets regarding Pete Alonso; Whether you like it or not, it would have been irresponsible for GM Billy Eppler to not take the call. I don't believe he had any intention of doing so, but even if he did, why not ask for the moon?

If Eppler initiated the trade talks, this would have been a different situation. My information is that he did not.

Honestly, it's far more believable to me the Brewers, whose owner voted against Steve Cohen's ownership of #Mets and the media-driven courtship of David Stearns, made the call so they could leak it afterward to create a controversy with the team's best player who is eligible to be a free agent after the 2024 season.
