Samsung Display has officially started mass production of OLED panels for Apple's foldable iPhone, including both the inner and outer displays.

There is little doubt that this is likely the most advanced foldable display solution currently available on Earth. It combines Samsung's latest M16 emissive materials, higher brightness, longer lifespan, and what is arguably the industry's best crease reduction technology.

When most people hear "Samsung Display," their first thought is still Galaxy. But perhaps it's time to adopt a new perspective:

Today, Samsung Display's most important customer is not Galaxy. It's Apple.

In terms of revenue and profit contribution, Apple is the backbone of Samsung Display's business. Hundreds of millions of OLED panel orders every year provide the company with its most stable and lucrative source of income. Galaxy is certainly important, but within Samsung Display's overall business, it plays a much smaller role than many people realize.

In a sense, Samsung Display's future is deeply tied to Apple. The better iPhones sell, the more money Samsung Display makes. Without Apple as its largest customer, Samsung Display's financial performance would look very different.

So the next time you see the name "Samsung Display" in the news, your first association may not need to be Galaxy. It might be iPhone. After all, many of Samsung Display's most advanced and most profitable display technologies are supported by Apple's enormous order volumes.

Linus Torvalds could have been richer than Elon Musk. He chose not to be.

In 2005 his team lost access to the tool they used to manage Linux code overnight. A developer had reverse-engineered it and the company behind it cut them off without warning.

Thousands of developers. No way to collaborate. No backup plan.

Torvalds did not panic. He sat down and built his own version control system from scratch.

In 10 days.

He called it Git. On day one it was already tracking its own source code. Within weeks it was managing the entire Linux project. By end of 2005 Git 1.0 was officially released.

Then he gave it away for free. Open source. No company. No patents. No monetization.

He handed the project off after a few months and went back to working on Linux like nothing happened.

Other people saw what he left on the table.

GitHub built on top of it. 100 million developers. Microsoft bought it in 2018 for $7.5 billion. GitLab went public in 2021 at nearly $12 billion. Today Git controls over 85% of the version control market.

Every app on your phone. Every website you visit. Built using Git.

Torvalds made $0 from any of it.

He built the most used developer tool in history because he was annoyed.

Then gave it away because he believed it should be free for everyone.

And he has never once said he regrets it.

AFM 3 Cloud and AFM 3 Cloud Image: Powers Siri AI, Image editing and Image Playground. Runs on Apple Silicon through PCC.

AFM 3 Cloud Pro: Used for agentic and complex reasoning tasks. Runs on Google Cloud with Nvidia and Intel chips that meet Apple’s strict PCC guidelines.

All of these models are built by Apple, they are NOT Gemini models. Apple is said to have distilled some of these models using Gemini (hence the $1B partnership), but they are all completely new models that use Apple’s own AI expertise and technology.

All Apple did was “distill” Google Gemini models for their Apple Foundation Models.

Apple is not using Gemini in the backend at all.

These Apple Foundation models are generally smaller, faster, and can run on Private Cloud Compute.

If anyone says “Siri is just a Gemini wrapper”, that can’t be further from the truth. In fact, Siri AI is much more than just the AI models behind it, it requires an entire orchestration framework, handling on-device information privately, working with App Intents and Spotlight, as well as Apple’s own World Knowledge base (not Google). It’s a whole complete system.
